Reports To

 

The Marketing and Operations Coordinator will report to the Founder & CEO of My Art Cache.

My Art Cache is a venture funded seed stage startup and online platform for art professionals to buy and sell artwork. A group of MBA students started My Art Cache  in 2018 out of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with a mission to put More Art on Walls.  Our team won the Rattan L. Khosa First-Place Prize at the Edward L. Kaplan, ‘71, New Venture Challenge (NVC), the top university accelerator program in the world, and was awarded the largest prize in program history. Great news – we are hiring! Our team is expanding, and we are looking for a Marketing and Operations Coordinator to help us scale our business. My Art Cache is an artsy, inquisitive, and innovative team that is excited to grow. We are a seed-stage, venture-backed startup, so we definitely work a lot of hours – but we also have a lot of fun! We are constantly learning and iterating ourselves and our product – and we are looking for the same from our Marketing and Operations Coordinator. Like many roles at My Art Cache and in many other startups, the Marketing and Operations Coordinator role is constantly evolving. This individual will have the opportunity to shape the trajectory of the business as a whole.

In this role, you will be the right hand to the CEO of Chicago’s hottest art startup. The most important job of the Marketing and Operations Coordinator is to make sure that the business operates efficiently and professionally. This individual will have the opportunity to experience many business functions. Responsibilities will span across multiple areas including but not limited to: Marketing, Sales, Operations, HR, Finance, Legal, and Design. With the Marketing and Operations Coordinator’s talents and immeasurable contributions, our office runs smoothly and our team focuses on driving growth.

 

This position is essential to the successful operation of our growing business, and requires the employee to exercise independent judgment and discretion in order to strategically and effectively perform the following Responsibilities and Duties.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

This role requires an administrative, creative, and strategic mind. The role does require independent judgement and decision-making skills, and successful candidates should be able to demonstrate that through past experience: 

 

  • Administrative / Operations: Responding to requests (both internal and external), managing staff calendars, coordinating appointments, owning agenda and meeting notes during staff meetings. Communicating with candidates, investors, employees (current and future) with full professionalism and 100% accuracy

  • Marketing: Writing and approving marketing and social media collateral, creating and having full ownership of company newsletters, and maintaining relationships with press outlets

  • Financial / Investors: Payroll (we use Gusto), expense tracking, financial reporting (we use QuickBooks), KPI management. Researching and making recommendations for investor partnerships, and preparing for investor meetings through pitch deck creation

  • Human Resources: Initiating all hiring efforts including working with head-hunters and screening resumes. The Marketing and Operations Coordinator may also have the opportunity to interview candidates 

  • Sales: Maintaining our CRM (we use HubSpot), preparing for sales meetings, art fair preparation & support, communicating with clients to answer their questions, and supporting our sales staff. The Marketing and Operations Coordinator may have the opportunity to work directly with clients

  • Product Management: Support our development and design team in any initiatives including but not limited to product design, development, deployment, and testing

  • Management: The Marketing and Operations Coordinator may have the opportunity to hire and/or manage a small team of interns

 

Qualifications

 

  • High level of detail-orientation (i.e., perfect grammar, spelling, and professional communication)

  • Work experience at a startup or in a high pressure environment 

  • Proficiency with the following tools is required: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), G Suite

  • Experience with the following tools and programs is preferred, though not required: HubSpot, Gusto, QuickBooks, Instagram, MailChimp, AirTable, DocuSign,  and more

  • Highly proactive, independent, self-starter, able to operate with limited information or direction, make independent decisions, and comfortable with ambiguity  

  • Innovative and creative, with an appetite for learning and growing.

  • Excellent communication skills 

  • Excited and ready to work hard play hard with an incredible team. This role does include night and weekend work from time to time

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university

    • Preferred Majors: Art History, Business, Finance, Marketing, Operations, Economics, Communications, English, Visual Arts. All majors will be considered 

  • Incredibly professional, high level of integrity, and able to handle highly confidential information discreetly

 

Bonus Points

 

  • While art experience is not required, this job does require the appetite to learn the intricacies of the fine art world. As such, experience in the art world including Art History majors/minors, experience working in galleries / with dealers, auction house experience is a plus

  • Experience working at startups or in consulting, or marketing 

  • Financial modeling experience

  • This is a salaried position

  • Pay ranges based on experience

  • Expected range: $35,000 to $50,000
