THE OPPORTUNITY:

VelocityEHS is seeking a Marketing Specialist, Graphic Design for its Marketing Communications Department to help update and create compelling digital and print content that reflects and serves its strategic goals, and messaging and brand objectives. The candidate should have an excellent understanding of visual design principles, be proficient in design software applications, and have the ability to quickly and accurately deliver design content that adheres to prescribed specifications and VelocityEHS brand guidelines. This role reports to the Marketing Director and will be providing support to the lead graphic designer and the Marketing Communications Department as a whole, fulfilling projects for, and collaborating with contacts in and outside the department. 

This is a fast-paced creative role, requiring excellent design skills, great attention to detail, strong communication and project management skills, and a positive, collaborative, can-do attitude. As a member of the VelocityEHS Marketing Communications Department, the Marketing Specialist, Graphic Design will be expected to help create, update and maintain a diverse range of high-quality marketing communications content, including, but not limited to the following: infographics, white papers, website graphics, banner ads, social media post images, emails, solution sheets, PowerPoints, and various display graphics, such as tradeshow banners.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:

  • Provide general design support for and on behalf of the department, in accordance with brand guidelines and design-related SOPs 
  • Coordinate the delivery of accurate, on-time projects for multiple project owners, while assuring brand consistency
  • Fulfill projects as assigned by lead designer
  • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute to creative conversations 
  • Assist with file naming and file management, and contribute to the creation or updating of SOPs as needed
  • Participate in design meetings and help field questions and requests
  • Determine how best to represent a concept visually that appeals to defined targeted audiences 
  • Provide regular updates on design projects and activity 
  • Complete various other tasks as needed 
  • Stay up-to-date on design trends and best practices

Minimum Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine arts, or related field, with at least 2 years of design work experience
  • Demonstrated successful design experience in Adobe Creative Suite applications including: InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, with demonstrated skills in PowerPoint presentation design 
  • Must provide a portfolio that demonstrates skills and experience 
  • Intermediate understanding of design around typography, color theory, photography, layout design, hierarchy and prototyping 
  • Must be comfortable creating charts, graphs, and infographics 
  • A creative, conceptual thinker with a strong attention to detail
  • Experienced multitasker, requiring minimal supervision with the ability to successfully juggle several projects at once, while staying on time 
  • Self-starter with ability to work autonomously and collaboratively 
  • Ability to illustrate from concept to execution, creative design solutions to complex problems and abstract ideas 
  • Adept at creating and maintaining the overall consistency of brand elements in connection with brand creative and content libraries 
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Stress tolerant with ability to cope with change and ambiguity and to be successful in a deadline-driven environment

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Agency experience
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS 
  • Adobe Creative Suite XD and AE
  • Proficiency with Mac and PC platforms
  • Knowledge of Web standards and responsive design principles
  • Designing for accessibility standards
  • Ability to create motion graphics and familiarity of video formats 
  • Understanding of user experience
