Senior Director of Revenue Marketing

The Role
We're looking for a passionate, metrics-driven revenue marketer for the Senior Director of Revenue Marketing who is a player/coach leader. This person will ensure Morningstar Investment Management has a predictable, scalable revenue engine in place. They will oversee marketing ops, analytics, demand gen, campaigns, website, email marketing and all associated teams. To drive revenue, they will be a key partner with sales and marketing to ensure that every element of the funnel is optimized and delivering results.
This role will be reporting to the Managing Director, Americas who is responsible for revenue generation across the region. They will collaborate heavily with the Head of Marketing to align with product marketing, content, channel, PR, communications and brand. We prefer for this position to be located in our Chicago office but will consider candidates working remotely in the United States where Morningstar is registered to conduct business.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the creation of the revenue marketing operating plan that is designed to ensure we achieve all revenue goals in the business
- Lead the marketing ops and campaign teams, with responsibility for demand gen, marketing automation, marketing analytics, website, campaigns, including content and design, and email marketing
- Collaborate heavily with product marketing to design and execute campaigns consistent with the target segments leveraging value propositions and key messages to create high conversion integrated marketing campaigns
- Oversee team that manages full funnel metrics, and ensure that we are providing insights and visibility for the entire marketing org to inform decision making
- Oversight and cross functional alignment of our integrated demand generation strategy and associated initiatives to support our aggressive pipeline goals, increase the number of qualified opportunities, accelerate pipeline velocity and pipeline creation
- Build multi-channel inbound and outbound campaign strategy that aligns messaging to the target audience to capture interest and drive demand. Includes Search engine optimization (SEO), Search engine marketing (SEM), and digital advertising and email, direct mail, content marketing, and coordinated internal sales outreach
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of key customer-centricity metrics e.g. CAC, CLV etc. and use those metrics to set target thresholds per customer segment; experiment with new channels, techniques, and messaging to scale advertising spend as quickly as possible
- Have a deep understanding of our ideal customer profile and buyer characteristics and ensure that all demand programs are well aligned to our target buyers
- Forecast, measure, analyze and report on the impact of demand creation activities on sales pipeline, revenue and sales cycle length
- Establish and manage quarterly and annual key performance indicators and budgets to ensure spend is allocated to the highest-performing marketing tactics and demonstrate marketing contribution to revenue to leadership
- Oversee implementation of best practices in database management to increase data integrity and market reach across geographies; support marketing database strategy and data requests
- Implement testing methodologies to enhance the demand creation process, including response and conversion rates and multivariate testing
- Oversee the marketing tech stack and ensure that we have the best tools in place to drive process efficiency
- Ability to translate complex data into simple, actionable terms for the sales and marketing teams
- Build and maintain strong relationships with peers in marketing, sales, product, technology and finance organizations
Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant B2B marketing experience including experience leading a marketing team
- A Bachelor's degree is required
- Demonstrated experience and success across all areas of demand generation, campaigns and marketing ops/analytics
- Clear, effective communication skills and experience in a collaborative, transparent, and hands-on environment
- Quantitative and technical skills preferred
- Experience applying data-driven techniques to inform marketing activities
- Experience working with Google Analytics, Adwords, Eloqua (or another MAP), Salesforce, a data visualization tool, and ABM platforms preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead a marketing team including coaching and developing talent
- Experience winning market share and hitting a revenue target
