Summary of Responsibilities:

The Public Relations Senior Manager will be responsible for helping grow awareness and demand for Home Chef. This person will own all aspects of public relations and organic social media and work closely with various Home Chef departments.

Lead Brand PR Strategy, Planning and Execution:

Develop and manage a robust public relations strategy to amplify Home Chef’s awareness and brand story amongst consumer, trade, tech and business media
Create an innovative engagement plan that leverages seasonal moments and relevant trends to garner positive media coverage
Work with stakeholders across the organization to develop communications strategies to support new products and corporate news
Monitor and analyze PR coverage and media program performance
Monitor and provide recommendations related to key trends in the industry, in media, and with consumers
Collaborate with Kroger’s communications team to support Home Chef’s PR initiatives

Lead Social Media Strategy

Provide strategic guidance and oversight on the editorial social calendar (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, The Table Blog)
Identify opportunities to leverage social content for digital ads and amplify influencer content across social channels

Manage the Social Media Team

Lead the two-person social media team
Provide coaching, guidance and development to team

Internal and Executive Communications

Connect the broader Home Chef organization through best in class internal communications, including managing monthly executive communications and quarterly town hall meetings
Partner with Home Chef leadership on messaging needs for internal and external speaking engagements
Provide additional direction and writing support to internal communications as needed
Identify relevant external speaking opportunities for leadership
Lead media training of employees as needed

Ongoing Media Relations

Develop and deliver clear, engaging, persuasive and on-brand messaging
Develop and activate key relationships with local and national media, digital influencers and other relevant partners to increase Home Chef’s media share of voice
Partner with Marketing team to maximize Home Chef content, partnerships and promotions
Manage external agency partners
Manage issues and crises as needed
Respond to inbound PR and media relations requests
Develop and maintain press collateral and press library

Qualifications/The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability and/or other characteristics needed for this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities.

5+ years of experience in public relations or media relations at a brand or agency (preferably both)
A track record of strategic leadership, securing media coverage around press release announcements, and keeping brands relevant through ongoing evergreen coverage
Food industry experience a plus
Experience with consumer-focused brand or start-up preferred
Completion of a four-year degree program in a related field

Iyer is a senior manager of new product development, but she also plays an active role in Home Chef’s cross-functional group, HC Connect. The group organizes social events that promote a sense of belonging across the company and also collaborates with the many affinity groups at Home Chef. Recently, Iyer attended a Mardi Gras trivia night where she learned about Creole culture and Spanish law.

I try to attend as many events as possible. I want to support my peers, but I also walk away with more than I expected, whether it’s a piece of trivia or understanding someone’s perspective in a new light.
