The SEO Marketing Manager, will lead our SEO strategic roadmap and prioritization reporting to the Director of Omnichannel Strategy. You will play a critical role in our marketing strategy, leveraging expertise in planning, execution and search engine optimization to drive performance across our Diner and B2B sites. You'll be tasked with creating reporting, tracking keywords and generating new SEO ideas to grow organic traffic. The ideal candidate should be able to generate content ideas and identify gaps for opportunities. You'll work closely with a variety of different teams and have weekly discussions with our SEO product and engineering teams. We'll look for you to train marketing teams on SEO best practices and be able to take full ownership of projects from start to finish.
The Impact You Will Make

  • Develop strategic pillars and priorities across our Diner and B2B sites
  • Regularly identify ways to improve SEO across Grubhub sites
  • Partner with SEO analytics to identify trends, issues and measure impact of SEO changes
  • Manage and guide development of direct report (Growth, analyst)
  • Subject matter expert for cross department education
  • Support creation of reporting materials, with strategic analysis, for stakeholders.
  • Perform competitive analysis across geos.
  • Maintain, and share knowledge of, key tools within the SEO group.
  • Understand user intent and how it might differ across multiple types of dining options.
  • Communicate budget needs for tooling.
  • Effectively forecast and recommend goals for SEO segments, based on known seasonality, rankings, and research.


What You Bring to the Table

  • 6+ years of experience in SEO roles with 2+ years managing direct reports
  • Bachelors degree required in related field
  • Excellent understanding of search engine ranking signals, SEO marketing strategies, and technical SEO elements
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise keyword tools like Conductor, Brightedge, SEMRush SearchMetrics, etc.
  • Google Search Console, Excel and Google Analytics power-user abilities
  • Site Crawler experience such as Screaming Frog or Botify and page speed testing tools
  • A love of SEO as demonstrated by active readership, or involvement, in the SEO community.
  • An exceptional grasp of user search query types, and corresponding user intent.
  • Experience working with large websites, particularly with extensive filtering options.
  • A proactive nature with ability to work with little supervision while managing multiple priorities; quickly adapt in a rapidly changing environment. A strong sense of accountability and ownership.
  • Strong familiarity with Google Analytics, Coremetrics, Adobe and/or another site analytics reporting tool from a site tagging and data collection perspective.
  • A willingness to collaborate and cultivate relationships with third-party vendors
  • Comfort with A/B Testing methodologies, segmentation, and reports.
  • A love for challenges and problem solving to be addressed via strategic thinking.
  • A highly analytical mind with a demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret quantitative and qualitative analyses.
  • Comfort drawing insights from analysis and building support for your perspective.
  • Ability to simplify complex, large data sets into easily digestible visualizations.
  • The ability to be a quick learner who thrives under ambiguity.
  • A great team player with a strong value system, unquestioned integrity and solid listening skills.

  • Comfortable working with raw event log data to gain granular insights to user behavior dynamics.
  • Familiarity with Tableau or Google Data Studio to provide insight into complex data sets.
  • Comfortable manipulating large data sets and presenting complex information in an easy to understand manner.
  • Database experience dealing with very large data sets, and good comfort writing complex SQL is a plus.
