Department Overview
The Global Communications team is the voice of Motorola Solutions, telling the company’s story of transformation and progress to employees, reporters and other stakeholders. We work strategically and collaboratively with colleagues around the world, finding the most compelling stories to tell and bringing them to life in pitches, news releases, blog posts, infographics, social media posts, videos and more.
Job Description

Seeking a skilled communications professional to develop and execute the corporate social media strategy globally in addition to other communications responsibilities in support of the business. This individual will work closely with senior leaders and departments across the company to develop our social media practice that supports the company strategy, critical initiatives and other business updates.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Motorola Solutions’ corporate social media strategy, with a focus on company storytelling and thought leadership.

  • Serve as a strategic business partner and advisor to leaders, teams and functions across the company, with a focus on building relationships and gathering insights to inform our social media strategy.

  • Lead content creation and curation for corporate social media, including managing our editorial calendar, writing content and guiding the development of visuals and other creative assets on all social platforms.

  • Use social media analytics to drive social media decision making such as the types of content we develop and share and the time of day and day of week to post - the analytics should serve as our guiding post to strengthen our platforms to drive brand awareness, customer engagement, competitive differentiation, community following and sales pipeline. 

  • Research social media practices and benchmark other companies to continuously improve and evolve Motorola Solutions’ social media presence, with creativity and imagination.

  • Understand the Motorola Solutions brand and values, and ensure these are reflected through all social media content.

  • Support the broader communications team with well-crafted, concise and highly engaging communications which may include pitches, blog posts, employee news stories and executive communications.

  • Build networks across diverse cultures and geographies and thrive in a collaborative team-based environment, while also working independently.

  • Read business and technology news; support monitoring, measurement and crisis communications activities.

  • Directly engage with our online audience. Listen, discuss, comment, problem solve, answer questions, respond. 

  • Outreach campaign - identify the influencers of our target market, contact & encourage them to promote our brand


Specific Knowledge and Skills

  • Strategic thinker who can build a network, gather information and translate it into communications projects and plans that generate results.

  • Outstanding writing, editing and proofreading skills.

  • Strong judgment and the ability to make decisions independently.

  • Serious commitment to excellence, quality and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to work in a variety of media, meet tight deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously and be adaptable to change.

  • Skilled at exerting influence, as well as collaborating, navigating and managing at all levels of the organization.

  • Advanced writing and storytelling skills

  • Basic graphics experience in Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.

  • Advanced ability to think outside the box, ideate and generate new ideas

  • Photoshop experience a plus but not required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; journalism, communications or English is preferred.

  • 1-3 years’ experience managing social media strategy and/or execution, preferably for a Fortune 500 company.
