Grubhub is looking for a Sr. Director in our marketing organization who will be responsible for driving the growth of our consumer business, including, most importantly, our entire $250M+/year marketing budget. This leader of a team of ~10 is an expert in the growth space, consumer-focused and analytically minded. They also will be responsible for maximizing overall output of the company’s marketing budget. Beyond leading the growth strategy, this person will provide alignment for their organization by partnering and communicating across the organization with other leaders, ensuring a solid balance between execution and balance business needs and objectives. This person will find a way to partner with the Brand team to balance between highly measurable short-term and higher-risk long-term investments. They will constantly look for ways to optimize performance through tests, measure impact in a scientific way and find new ways to continue high-growth to ensure we sustain great results and well-being for our business and diners.
Some Challenges You’ll Tackle
More specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Creating and executing the strategy for new diner and order growth for Grubhub and Seamless nationwide
- Lead that team that is at the center of marketing investment, determining efficacy of all of the company’s discretionary spend.
- Lead the team that helps the broad marketing team (130+ strong!) across B2C and B2B groups measure incremental CAC and LTV, define rigorous testing plans, and ultimately allocate budgets
- Partner with senior leaders and executive across Grubhub, ensuring our growth strategy aligns to our overall company wide initiatives and long term objectives
- Oversee and forecast budgets to help identify opportunities to shift marketing investment to better channels or test new new emerging channels
- Determine the strategy for how we test & scale new ideas to constantly evolve and continue high-growth
- Partner closely with our Product, Logistics, and Restaurant Network leaders to create a world-class experience that maximizes CLV
- Develop and own the marketing budget for marketing, in collaboration with our Finance partners
- As a senior member of the marketing leadership team, build out a world class marketing team one that is constantly focused on experimenting, learning, and growing our business
- Establish objectives and performance standards to encourage employee growth and development for the team
You Should Have
You should have:
- 10+ years experience in product development, analytics, or quantitative marketing
- 8+ years experience with a track record of success leading teams and organizations
- Highly analytical, rigorous, comfortable with statistical methods and SQL
- Experience developing integrated marketing strategies and integrating acquisition within broader digital marketing efforts
- Superior flexibility and ability to navigate (and help others succeed in) an ever-changing environment with moving business targets
- Deep financial management and analytical skills -- everything we do must be tested. You will overseeing a large marketing budget and you must be able to demonstrate a strong ability to optimize spend based on performance
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills. You need to be very resourceful, reliable, energetic, self-motivated and knows how to have fun
- Positive team player with a strong will to win. Ability to communicate and work closely with C-level executives
- Must have an entrepreneurial spirit with the rigor and discipline to build the business and creative competencies to allow Grubhub to continue to stand out in the market
- High endurance, high integrity, and high expectations for self and others
- Travel may be required, no more than 20% each month
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, engineering or business is required
Desirable, but not required:
- Master in media mix planning, above and below the line channels optimization and attribution
- Proven track record in consumer-facing brands, ideally in a marketplace setting
- MBA from a top business school is preferred
