We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Sr. Manager Direct Marketing on our Marketing and Member Experience team. In this role you will develop strategies for membership acquisition and retention campaigns using analytics-driven insights to ensure marking plans adhere to best practices, align to the goals and interests of target audiences, and achieved desired business outcomes and KPIs.  Lead a team focused on contact, content and creative planning and execution.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Marketing Strategy
    • Develop acquisition and retention growth strategies across various channels (print, email, digital) based on data-driven insights
    • Design campaigns to maximize performance metrics of conversion, response rates and engagement
    • Monitor campaign results on a weekly basis and revise go-to-market plans to meet or exceed goals
    • Partner with Data and Analytics team to present campaign results and insights to management
    • Continually monitor best practice standards for direct response marketing trends
    • Identify channel expansion opportunities, and develop cutting-edge campaigns and programs
    • Lead the development of mapping out the member journey and identify acquisition, retention, and member experience opportunities
    • Support member acquisition and retention strategies by collaborating with PE marketing colleagues and other internal business units to ensure cohesion of marketing plans for targeted audiences, content, contact and creative strategies, and leverage opportunities beyond standard channel
  • Contact Strategy and Implementation
    • Lead the development of the contact strategy with oversight of the circulation planning to increase response across channels
    • Implement and test designed plans with guidance and collaboration from Data and Analytics team
    • Refine and evolve customer segments and identify new channel opportunities
  • Membership Marketing Campaigns 
    • Oversee messaging, content and creative development for all membership marketing campaigns
    • Lead the development of the overall editorial calendars for acquisition and retention
    • Ensure target market and individual personas interests align with messaging, content, and creative across channels
  • People Management 
    • Lead, mentor and provide management oversight for professional staff
    • Responsible for setting objectives, evaluating performance and developing staff
    • Identify opportunities for advancing staff skills and expertise

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in marketing or related degree preferred; master’s Degree a plus
  • 7 -10 years of direct marketing experience required with experience in project management, brand management, creative, content, contact optimization, integrated marketing communications; marketing agency experience or membership or subscription services a plus.
  • 5 years’ experience managing and leading teams of marketing professionals with a diverse set of backgrounds ranging from creative to analytical
  • Demonstrated experience in utilizing direct channels; mail, email, fax, telemarketing, to drive action
  • Prior experience and success with lead generating programs and email journeys
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data and results to generate marketing recommendations and optimizations
  • Excellent collaboration and communications skills working with both internal teams and external stakeholders, ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
  • Exceptional time and project management skills; formal project management training and knowledge of project management tools a plus
  • Highly self-motivated, creative thinker who is willing to take calculated entrepreneurial risks to drive hyper-growth
  • Demonstrated sense of initiative and professionalism
