Responsibilities

SDI’s Proposal Analyst/Technical Writer will work with SDI Solutions personnel and Proposal Manager to produce strong technical content for use in the firm’s response to government RFPs, service catalog, delivery methodologies, and sales materials.

In this role, you will be working as one of the SDI Team to produce a winning proposal, including:

  • Refining and communicating SDI’s unique differentiation; understand and articulate SDI’s value to the client
  • Produce original content that is technical sound, articulate, and free of errors
  • Author necessary technical content to ensure technically sound, complete, and winning proposal responses.
  • Participate in proposal solutioning and review processes to the author, review/edit/proofread and finalize the technical solution, approach, scope of services, methodologies, timeline, related collateral and resumes, and other RFP requirements
  • Formalize content around SDI services, perspective, and delivery methodology
  • Work with marketing to publish SDI original content to establish the firm’s perspective and position in select markets
  • Provide technical copywriting for other marketing materials and activities, including sales collateral, website content, and press releases.
  • Support post-proposal submission - providing assistance as needed to Business Development/Delivery Executives with Best and Final Offer submissions and Presentations
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 10+ years of direct experience producing technical proposal content, ideally for opportunities within state and local governments
  • Technical writing experience in IT networking and/or ITIL preferred
  • 5+ years of experience is in preparing proposals for high-value contracts
  • 5+ years of editing/proofing reading experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in English or Journalism or Information Technology Field or equivalent work experience is preferred
  • Must have the tenacity and ability to work long hours in a stressful environment – occasional weekends
  • Must be very flexible – able to change priorities quickly and very dependable
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access; Microsoft Outlook; Adobe Acrobat Writer 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to capture technical information with grammatical, effective English, in a clear and consistent style
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative and consultative manner and able to quickly develop effective relationships built on trust and respect
  • Excellent communication skills including editorial, written, verbal
  • Able to manage cross-functional resources and effectively delegate tasks, but willing to do all aspects of the proposal response
  • Detail-oriented, self-directed, and motivated
  • Creative and able to multi-task and make connections quickly
  • Must be able to read with understanding legal language
  • Capability to contribute to other marketing-related activities, including authoring project profiles, press releases, and presentations
  • Document design and illustration experience or aptitude an asset
  • Business and Development and/or Marketing background an asset especially if combined with work experience in an IT Consulting environment
