PEAK6 is a leading investment firm headquartered in Chicago. More than 20 years ago, we were one of the first firms to develop sophisticated proprietary technology in our trading business. Today, we leverage our technical ingenuity and operational ability across a number of investment areas, spanning early- to mid-stage growth capital, operational control, trading, and sports management. Over the years, we have built and operated several leading financial technology firms and today our team includes a digital wealth clearinghouse, an outsourced provider of flood insurance, an e-sports organization, a value investment arm and more.
The Chief Operations Officer will have responsibility of all aspects of the Operations for the Capital Management business within PEAK6 monitoring and improving the success of internal business operations and corporate functions. At a highly functional level, they will be responsible for driving both interim and long-term operational efficiency and productivity initiatives targeted at improving profitability and internal stakeholder satisfaction. The COO will help build and maintain key stakeholder relationships; including but not limited to our business ecosystem and parent company. They will collaborate to drive transformation and adoption of parent company processes, policies and procedures while cultivating the performance of Capital Management. They will act as a culture champion and agent of change/improvement for the internal Capital Management culture.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Design and implement business strategies, plans and procedures for tracking, leading and improving various functions of the operations of the Capital Management group.
- Measure the effectiveness of all processes internal and external. Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the business unit and create new strategic efficiencies
- Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of PEAK6.
- Translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating plans.
- Executive representative for the firm with clients, investors, vendors and business partners as needed
- Ensure Delivery, Procurement, Shared Services, all aspects internally in support of the CEO to lead and drive the business forward in the most effective and innovative way possible.
The skills you’ll need to succeed:
- 12+ years of leadership experience in a financial services, investment banking and and/or professional services environment
- Bachelor Degree required and advanced degree preferred.
- Prior COO / operations experience within the financial services industry and/or professional services organization.
- Understanding of fast moving complex financial environment.
- Strong executive presence and ability to interact with top executives
- Successful teamwork experience & demonstrated leadership abilities
- Strong commercial awareness, design new ways to work, impact cost, effective methods to operate
- Strong relationship building, communication and influencing skills, business leadership
- Executive presence with desire and ability to interact as a peer at a senior level in client situations and comfortable working at a senior level within complex organizations, with an ability to build empathy, credibility and trust with all
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic individual able to communicate at all levels, inspire, motivate. Exude appropriate confidence.
