Cloud Architect
Job Description
As a member of McDonald’s Global Data & Analytics Platform - Architecture Team, this individual will perform Cloud Architecture for strategic and customer-driven initiatives. We need a collaborative and self-directed individual who, in partnership with other Domain Architects and project teams, will engage customers and stakeholders to clarify expectations, apply relevant standards and best-practices, and drive the delivery of cloud solutions. The successful candidate knows how to balance a strong results-orientation with continuous improvement providing a reliable and stable cloud solutions.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate across multiple teams to research, architect, engineer, and configure complex cloud solutions to specified requirements in support of global, business critical systems
- Strong knowledge of AWS services including EC2, Lambda, S3, EFS, RDS, Redshift, Route 53, CodeCommit, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Kinesis, Athena, EMR, IAM Roles, Data Pipeline, DynamoDB, NoSQL, VPC
- Project engagements will include migration of existing applications and development of new applications using AWS Cloud services and potentially Azure cloud services
- Continuously improve system and database performance, automation, operations and processes
- Embrace and focus on emerging technology and evangelize to the rest of the team
Minimum Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Bachelor’s degree in relevant business or technical field IS REQUIRED.
- 5+ years of total IT professional experience
- 2+ years of professional experience architecting solutions in AWS with a majority of the following: AWS, Atlassian Suite products including Jira/BitBucket, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Python or Lambda
- 2+ years of professional experience with AWS including: Amazon Redshift, EC2, EMR, Spark, S3, Kinesis and RDS Databases
- 2+ years of professional experience of Agile, ETL (Talend preferred), data preparation and reporting
- 1+ years of professional experience in implementing big data solutions using AWS services (such as Hortonworks, Cloudera, etc.)
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Able to recommend appropriate recommendations on multiple AWS stacks including: Object Storage S3, EBS instances, Security, Encryption and Governance framework on AWS
- Understanding of other cloud architectures including Azure & Google cloud
- Experience in AWS Athena and Glue
- Excellent written, verbal, and meeting facilitation skills
- AWS Solutions Architect – Associate Certification
