OppLoans is a rapidly growing Fintech company that helps credit-challenged consumers build a better financial path through accessible products and five-star customer service. As one of Chicago's fastest-growing startups, we've made the Crain's Business Chicago Fast 50 (#4 in 2019) and the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 (twice), and we've ranked in the top 10% of the Inc. 5000 four years in a row!
OppLoans is a team of caring and inventive "Opptimists" with diverse perspectives and backgrounds. OppLoans employees approach every new challenge with an unparalleled ability to see what could be rather than settle for what is. We want people to be excited to come to work every morning and know they are a part of something great. That's why we prize collaboration, collegiality, and letting the best ideas win the day.
As part of the OppLoans' Compliance Advisory Unit, you will ensure all changes to our products or processes will be vetted and reviewed for compliance. You will report directly to the Compliance Advisory Manager within the Compliance Department and will frequently have exposure to C-Level Executives.
What you get to do:
- Prevent future compliance issues by reviewing business-proposed changes to processes and products by identifying any consumer compliance risks associated with the proposals before their implementation.
- Review requests will vary in complexity from updates to call center training to reviewing brand new product features and company-wide projects before rollout.
- Work with multiple business leaders in other departments to identify solutions that reduce identified compliance risk while minimizing impact.
- Assess the material significance and relevance of identified compliance risks.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced members of the team.
- Take on and lead other projects to assess risk considering prevention, detection, mitigation, or assessment of regulatory risk as assigned.
What you will bring to the team:
- 2 years minimum experience in a consumer compliance-oriented role working with an installment loan or credit card product.
- Solid knowledge of state and federal regulations and banking industry rules; UDAAP, ECOA, EFTA, CARD, E-SIGN, FCRA, FDCPA, GLBA, MLA, SCRA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, BSA, U.S. Bankruptcy Code, PCI, and NACHA.
- Experience assessing products and processes in light of relevant compliance.
