Job Description

ABOUT THIS JOB

The Director, BASES Line and Price, plays a critical strategic role in client consulting, team management and revenue growth for BASES and the Line & Price specialty in particular. This role is positioned as a subject matter expert on product pricing, price pack architecture, assortment and choice-based research approaches in general (Discrete Choice and Conjoint). RESPONSIBILITIES

Grow the Nielsen BASES business through selling of Pricing & Portfolio solutions

  • Pursues new business from existing and potential clients, working with Client Development partners to drive BASES business results through consultative selling, with revenue responsibility of $2-4MM
  • Contributor and driver of account plans to increase depth and breadth of penetration of the Innovation/Nielsen solutions to meet client specific needs 
  • Independently designs and estimates costs of projects, finalizing and approving proposals and responding to RFPs
  • Independently leads client meetings and conducts external presentations as appropriate
  • Understands full Innovation eco-system/process, including BASES’ competitive environment, preferred agencies, tools

Deliver best in class insights and help our clients achieve better business outcomes

  • Serve as a key leader for client relationships, understanding business needs and driving to better business outcomes for clients
  • Assists in handling sensitive client discussions, escalating to VP where appropriate
  • Acts as final reviewer for project work
  • Aligns the Analytic team with client needs - provides relevant client background, history and other Nielsen analytics
  • Ensures client deliverables, are consistent with client business decisions and strategy
  • Manages client reaction to any project issues and seeks quick resolution to overcome challenges

Talent Development

  • Develops managerial and client service capabilities for both direct reports and other team members engaged in client projects
  • Provides input on talent decisions and movement
  • Provides input on hiring and termination decisions
  • Conducts interviews with potential candidates over the phone and in-person to help fill open positions in the office 
  • Provides coaching, mentoring and feedback to analytic teams 

Team Contributions

  • Acts as an agent of change for evolutions in commercial and operational processes, tools and products
  • Brings a problem solving attitude to team challenges
  • Provides insight to strategic direction of the team

A LITTLE ABOUT YOU

As a subject matter expert for both strategic client consulting needs and methodological approaches, you demonstrate a mastery of BASES products, services and broader Nielsen solutions. You have successfully met/exceeded revenue targets, and are comfortable looking for ways to grow relationships with clients. You are able to confidently manage client expectations and ensure client satisfaction by providing feedback, insights and updates in a timely manner. You are a successful coach and mentor and hold yourself and other team members accountable for individual responsibilities and goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in marketing, research, consulting or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Strong consultative, business development and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage several ongoing client engagements and internal initiatives at the same time
  • Excellent oral/written communication, organizational, project management and customer service skills
  • Strong people management skills and leadership ability
  • Strongly prefer experience with choice-based research methods (Discrete Choice, Conjoint) 
  • Preferred background in client service, client management or business development
  • Preferred experience in pricing analytics, assortment strategy, price pack architecture or strategic revenue management
