Director, Business Systems

The corporate IT team at Sprout Social is responsible for employee tooling, security, and technical support for our entire organization but also support for our business systems including but not limited to Salesforce, Netsuite, and Workato. We are entirely SaaS-based, prefer lean, modern ways of working, and are forging a non-traditional path forward. Our mission is to provide world-class tooling to ensure the success of our employees.
As the Director of Business System Architecture at Sprout, you will ensure our tooling is best in breed and, more importantly, that the architecture and integrations between them are configured, managed, and running efficiently. You will partner with our Sales and Finance Operations teams to develop and prioritize new features and enhancements to refine our global sales processes.
We are looking for a senior architect with a demonstrated history of developing within the Salesforce platform, overseeing ERP platforms, and has a solid technical foundation with Javascript, Apex, and REST APIs . Qualifications
These are the minimum qualifications that our hiring team is looking for in this role:
- 5+ years of experience managing functional application/development teams
- Proven experience overseeing ERP systems (Netsuite) and a strong understanding of technical requirements of finance processes
- Strong understanding of core finance processes, quote to cash, record to report, and procure to pay.
Additionally, these are the preferred qualifications that would indicate a particularly strong candidate:
- Proven ability to lead talent and foster the professional development of direct reports
- A clear understanding of the security, scalability, and maintainability of solution design and business needs
- A solid technical foundation of Javascript, Apex, and REST APIs
Within 1 month, you will:
- Attend and complete Sprout Social's two-week new hire training and onboarding program alongside other new Sprout team members. In these sessions, you will gain a broad understanding of our products and how your role directly impacts the product, overall organization, and our customers.
- Make a plan with your manager to set initial priorities, align on expectations for your role, and learn about Sprout's existing toolset.
- Get to know the current tooling and begin to build working relationships with stakeholders throughout our Sales, Finance, and Marketing teams as well as your co-workers.
- Develop an understanding of the Corporate IT project management and development lifecycles.
Within 3 months, you will:
- Begin establishing your leadership by participating in the review of incoming requests and steering to align with our overall architectural goals.
- Begin contributing code, completing code reviews, and debating best approach
- Work with your team to create and prioritize tasks/projects to meet our existing needs/commitments.
- Begin updating, refining, and improving, documentation and processes.
- Build connections with members from other teams through active networking and community building.
Within 6 months, you will:
- Fully understand the challenges of our internal business systems and begin establishing your vision.
- Work with senior leaders in the creation and prioritization of business goals.
- Own larger initiatives from scoping through delivery including vendor selections and migrations where applicable.
- Work and effectively communicate with other groups across the organization to ensure big-picture alignment and cross-team collaboration.
- Form a career growth plan with your direct reports and work toward the team.
Within 12 months, you will:
- Be a go-to resource on our business systems from lead to quote to cash.
- Efficiently deliver day-to-day support for our Salesforce engineering team and Finance systems administrator..
- Effectively delivering solutions to ensure our systems and tooling stays ahead of growth.
- Participate in cross-organizational projects, demonstrating consensus building and strong leadership.
- Surprise us! Use your unique ideas and abilities to change Sprout in beneficial ways that we haven't even considered yet.
Of course, what is outlined above is the ideal timeline, but things may shift based on business needs and other projects and tasks could be added at the discretion of your manager.
