The Office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is responsible for the development, implementation, and support of the VillageMD clinical model. The Office of the CMO coordinates across all areas of the organization to deliver a comprehensive clinical model driven by analytics and the best available patient and physician facing technology, always recognizing the value of the clinician patient relationship. Integral to the team, the Director of Instructional Design will directly support a wide variety of learning and training needs through developing effective and innovative learning solutions for a variety of audiences. In this newly created role, developing strong working relationships across the organization and maintaining regular interaction with key stakeholders and executive leadership will be important. This is a fast-paced role with a high-growth company and exciting team. You may need to jump in to support other priorities and new initiatives at times, so flexibility and a desire to get stuff done are critical to success.

Some examples of work you will own in this role:

  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to create innovative, interactive, and efficient training programs incorporating multiple learning formats
  • Creating new training assets that simplify learning of complex concepts and effectively communicate to an audience of adult learners
  • Monitoring efficacy of training programs and materials, making recommendations for improvements, and implementing changes as necessary
  • Partnering with SMEs to monitor completion, comprehension, and retention of content to identify effectiveness and improvement opportunities
  • Identifying and evaluating appropriate evaluation tools to measure training success against a set of metrics
  • Interviewing clinical and technical experts across the business to collect necessary data and raw content and translate into storyboards, participant and facilitator guides and other learning materials
  • Owning operational aspects of the learning portfolio including vendor sourcing, budgets, project management, communication, branding and marketing
  • Recommending appropriate delivery modality (e.g., classroom, on demand, virtual classroom, performance support, blended learning), and buying, building, and/or redesigning solutions as needed
  • Developing strong relationships with and communicating frequently and effectively across various stakeholders, team members, SMEs and consultants to ensure that learning objectives are being met

What you bring to VillageMD:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree in instructional technology, design or performance technology preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in instructional/curriculum design, preferably in healthcare industry
  • Significant experience developing and facilitating learning in a business setting
  • Understanding of training principles, learning theories, organizational development, instructional design, eLearning and program management
  • Experience working with clinical and technical subject matter experts
  • Knowledge of training technology and web-based tools
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and deliver quality outcomes while effectively managing multiple competing priorities
  • Previous, external client interface and relationship management strongly preferred
  • Hands on approach and expert command of details
  • An optimistic outlook and “can do” attitude
