The Team: The Corporate team unites a variety of functions at Morningstar including design, marketing, finance, quality, human resources, corporate communications, legal, compliance, strategic planning, and technology with the goal of keeping our business running smoothly. Each of these functions plays an essential role in supporting our company's infrastructure, day-to-day operations, and ongoing strategic initiatives.

Our people—through their creativity, talent, and willingness to learn—are essential to the success of our company.   We are seeking a Director of Learning and Development to work in close collaboration with our business leaders and Talent & Culture team to create and implement engaging development programs that are tied to our business and talent strategy from a global perspective. You will deliver a leadership development framework that is focused on growing our leaders and maintain strategic training initiatives to be scaled across the organization. You will support talent development by creating innovative approaches around culture and development to retain and support our employees. The focus is on improving business results by ensuring a strong leadership pipeline and a robust approach to managing talent.  This position is based in our Chicago office.

What You’ll Do

• Create innovative and effective learning solutions to better meet the needs of the business and identify learning gaps and opportunities
• Leverage digital, mobile and social learning technologies, and look beyond the conventional to create impactful changes in the learning and development space 
• Take charge of pilot programs to test new concepts before launching full scale programs and manage large scale global projects with multiple stakeholders
• Support and enhance Morningstar’s approach to talent and performance management
• Design and deliver leadership programs and resources to meet leadership education needs of the business
• Apply a data-driven approach to continuously measuring and improving Morningstar’s learning and development offerings
• Support our culture with innovative and proven strategies around onboarding and ongoing education
• Work closely with key business leaders to understand objectives and ensure training programs support and align with larger company goals
• Design in-house scalable solutions that include a blended approach to learning such as coaching, classroom training, 1:1 sessions, action learning & e-learning

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years business experience
• Experience in a leadership role with a demonstrated track record in project management and implementing innovative approaches to talent development challenges
• Experience at a global company where you’ve developed strong leaders and built a high-performance culture
• Exceptional results orientation with demonstrated personal initiative and customer centric perspectives
• You can navigate and optimize learning solutions within a complex organizational structure
• Adaptable to work with shifting priorities; and with enthusiasm
• Track record of developing and leading training efforts with direct experience in program facilitation and instructional design
• Extensive experience influencing and gaining commitment from senior leadership and other key stakeholders
• Ability to analyze and interpret data and leverage those insights into critical decisions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work under tight deadlines and plan, organize and carry out multiple, detailed tasks
