The Role
The Director of Procurement for GTI is responsible for leading and ownership over procurement, purchasing, vendor management, contract negotiation and the day to day purchasing operations. You will develop and operate plans to ensure GTI has the resources to support current forecasted business and projected growth to respond to current and emerging markets. You will bring depth of working within a CPG or manufacturing environment and understand best in class supply chain processes.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities to include supplier performance, supplier quality, buyer activity levels, and material availability
- Partner with internal business partners to understand requirements for wholesale goods and ensure those requirements are met in vendor proposals and vendor selection
- Create sourcing strategy and lead internal teams through objective evaluation processes for selecting solutions or service providers (RFQ, RFI, RFP, score carding, onsite presentations/demos)
- Ensure compliance with company procurement and internal control policies, processes, and standards
- Negotiate commercial terms with vendors and ensure contracts, orders, or SOWs for purchases adequately capture agreed upon commercial terms
- Develop effective negotiation strategies and secure profitable deals
- Research and anticipate shifts in the negotiating power of suppliers
- Estimate risks and apply risk mitigation techniques
- Discover and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field: business, supply chain, materials management, engineering
- Minimum 8 years significant experience in manufacturing or CPG procurement operations with at least 2 years of related managerial experience
- Hands-on expertise developing and implementing programs for cost reduction, supplier performance management and inventory reduction.
- APICS or Supply Chain Certification is preferred
- Strong experience implementing Lean manufacturing. Six Sigma Black Belt trained or equivalent.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness.
- Adapts and thrives in a demanding, start-up, fast-paced environment.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, non-verbal, written), with the ability to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Possesses a high level of critical thinking.
- Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information.
