We built Tempus to collect, structure, and organize data from disparate sources to power innovation and discovery. And now we are looking for a Director of Strategic Partnerships and External Research to join our rapidly growing Medical Sciences team. This role would focus on establishing and building partnerships with external researchers while collaborating across all product/service lines (data, testing, & patient recruitment support).
Director of Strategic Partnerships and External Research-Medical Sciences
The Director of Strategic Partnerships and External Research is responsible for managing external engagement strategy and operations. The role will work with internal stakeholders to align internal strategies with external research opportunities that serve multiple business needs (real-world data, laboratory, therapies, and R&D initiatives). Secondary responsibilities include maintenance and development of internal tracking and coordination of disclosure strategy.
Organize and tracking of new and ongoing external research projects for internal teams, weekly, and monthly meetings
Scientific review with internal SMEs and other medical science members to ensure research proposals have clear scientific intent/question and are achievable
Work with internal partners to identify project risks and resource provisioning
Provide operational and high-level scientific support on areas of high need for ongoing or proposed research projects
Serve as a key point of contact in managing day-to-day focus on portfolio of external research projects being executed
Understand the problems that external partners need to solve and work closely with internal Tempus teams to ensure how Tempus can assist in solving those problems
Assess need for engagement of Tempus subject matter experts across all product areas in coordination to review potential external research opportunities
Creation or co-creation of materials to support external research framework
Develop a clear understanding of all contracts relevant to research partnerships and work with Partner Operations team to ensure flawless execution
Proactively identify and raise issues; act as a point of internal and external escalation; develop and provide recommendations for resolutions
Maintains current system overseeing external insights collection from relevant disease areas
Entrepreneurial business approach; thrives in a high growth, rapidly evolving business environment
Proactive mindset that can operationalize implementable solutions, and can help move both internal and external stakeholders to quickly solve problems
Understanding of translational research, discovery, and clinical development at research universities
Preferred advanced understanding of clinical or translational research, biology, or therapeutic interventions in Oncology
Proven ability to navigate multi-faceted client organizations with repeated success
Ability to set strategies/tactics that are aggressive, but realizable
Exceptional account management, articulation of issues and an ability to navigate a wide range of stakeholders to solve problems
At least 5+ years in clinical, translational, or basic science research preferably in oncology or molecular genetics
Preferably 3+ years working in operations or project management experience
Bachelor degree in a Science or Business discipline; Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MBA, or Healthcare certification) desired
