The Food Safety and Quality Program Specialist provides systems support for the Corporate and Plant Food Safety and Quality teams. The role supports the design the Food Safety and Quality Management System Manual through ensuring effective and compliant management of records, SOPs, documentation and other necessary functional support of Home Chef’s Food Safety & Quality System. The Food Safety and Quality Program Specialist will also perform food safety and quality management administrative duties. 

Support the design and implementation of the Food Safety and Quality Management System:

  • Support the development and maintenance of key aspects of Home Chef Food Safety and Quality Systems, designed to meet the regulatory, Food Safety and Quality requirements to assure compliance with SQF requirements, including sanitation related activities
  • Works closely with the plant FSQA teams and cross-functionally in understanding, identifying gaps and proposing changes to processes that affect food safety & quality systems compliance
  • Support the design and development of SafetyChain, developing forms and programs as required
  • Develop training for plant FSQA teams related to program rollout
  • Champion change management for FSQA team

Food Safety & Quality Program Compliance, Preventive Controls Compliance:

  • Oversee monitoring, verification, and validation of Preventive Control for Sites Food Safety Plan, including allergen, sanitation and process preventive controls 
  • Track and trend environmental monitoring results (EMP), good manufacturing practice (GMP) audit findings, and other food safety program findings at a network level
  • Ensure internal audit program is followed as designed, review audit results for trends and best practices to be shared across the FSQA network
  • Review verification activities for scales, thermometers, etc. ensuring compliance to Home Chef’s food safety & quality program expectations

Quality System Documentation Management:

  • Responsible for document control activities including creation and maintenance of SOPs and training of associates to read, review and approve documents; and maintaining a fully compliant system.
  • Ensure food safety and quality records are maintained in a compliant manner and easily retrievable
  • Ensure all deviations from established procedures are appropriately documented through CAPA program and investigated to determine and fix root cause.
  • Oversees the documentation related to the internal audit program including checklist, schedule, reporting, and trending 

Other tasks as assigned:

  • Serve as back-up to shorts & replacement approvals and labeling activities among other daily and weekly FSQA team tasks, sometimes occurring after business hours, weekends and holidays
  • Serve as secondary resource for SafetyChain, becoming system subject matter expert
  • Drive food safety culture at Home Chef, contribute to the weekly Ops Bulletin FSQA section

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality assurance, food safety, food distribution, food manufacturing, supply chain, or related fieldPrevious experience with GFSI, SQF and USDA audits preferred.
  • Understanding of Quality Management SystemsExperience developing, implementing, and maintaining food safety and quality programs
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal skillsSelf-starter who is results-oriented, resourceful, and takes initiative
  • Capable of handling multiple responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to embrace change and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • If not already obtained, must complete PCQI and HACCP training within 3 months of hire
  • Completion of a four-year degree program in a related field (please describe): Biology, Food Safety, Microbiology
