Position Overview:
The Incident Commander is a critical role in our Technology organization. This key role helps to improve reliability and resilience of Paylocity's services in order to continue improving our clients' experience on the platform. This position acts as the point person during service outages and degradation, reducing time to resolve incidents while also facilitating discussions afterwards in order to maximize the amount we learn from incidents.
Location: 100% Remote
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Responsibilities:

  • Join our on-call rotation as part of our 24x7 Incident Command team to handle major incidents
  • Clearly communicate status and impact of incidents to internal stakeholders and customers
  • Take charge of incidents by running a cross-functional technical call comprised of internal partners
  • Drive the resolution of incidents through clear direction and time management while keeping the effort on track and moving forward
  • Interview key people involved in incidents to surface and capture risks and opportunities
  • Draft narrative descriptions that help describe "how we got here" based on chat transcripts and notes captured during incidents
  • Work with teams to follow up on Post Incident Reviews and Problem Management

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in leading complex technology incidents, preferably in a SaaS based environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate details of complex issues to stakeholders, business and technical users.
  • Analytical skills, with the ability to identify themes within data and make data-driven decisions
  • Experience working with ITIL principles
  • Demonstrated high-level understanding of enterprise software and networking concepts including SaaS technologies, and SDLC.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead under pressure, make decisions in ambiguous situations, and drive cross group consensus in short periods.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $60,000.00 - $88,500.00 /year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position offers a comprehensive variable compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
