Job Description

Motorola Solutions is on a journey to drive unprecedented value through a data-driven culture. We are seeking an IT Business System Analyst (BSA) who is a lifetime student, passionate about the use of technology to solve business problems. This role would be part of the IT Data and Analytics organization. The selected candidate would support the ongoing Actionable Data Insight (ADI) program to build Enterprise Data Hub (EDH) using AWS Cloud technologies, AWS Redshift database, and Tableau visualization tool, help with EDH implementation, and its integrations with other applications. 

Scope of Responsibilities / Expectations

  • This role would be the glue between IT Data Relationship Managers (DRMs) and developers. On one side, the role would own the functional specification analysis and translating them to the technical specifications in working with the IT Data Relationship Managers (DRMs). On the other side, you would lead the developers to ensure that the development is done as per the functional and technical specifications.

  • Lead the architecture reviews, and ensure code standards, security and best practices are followed.

  • Champion the standardization of the functional and technical specification documents across all the Data Relationship Managers (DRMs) who are supporting various business functions.

  • Drive the initiative to standardize, build and maintain the data dictionary, and data catalog in the Alation tool across all the Data Relationship Managers (DRMs) who are supporting various business functions.

  • Demonstrate cross-functional team leadership working across a large and matrixed environment, including IT staff members, development partners, consultants, and business

  • Ensure the data pulled from the source systems gets ingested per the architectural standards.

  • Ensure the enterprise data hub and Tableau (standard data visualization tool) work coherently.

  • Be the technical guru to provide guidance to the EDH Operations team to troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to data ingestion, reports, analytics, Enterprise Data Hub (EDH) and Tableau environments.

  • Learn new systems outside of the current responsibilities. Analyze business processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual work through the use of technology.​

Desired Background/Knowledge/Skills

  • Expertise with Data Management, Data Warehousing, and Analytics, including implementation experiences using Amazon Redshift and the AWS ecosystem

  • Experience with Tableau or any other visualization tool would be a big plus.

  • Willingness and ability to get hands-on code, model, develop, write SQL queries.

  • Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, SAFe and knowledge of tools such as Jira.

  • ITIL and Enterprise Change Management background.

  • Drive to stay current on skills and technology in the master data space.

  • Knowledge of common data and database pitfalls and how to avoid them. 

  • Experience with ELT methods using a script-based approach.

  • Proven expertise with Data Management, Data Warehousing, and Analytics

  • Experience with conceptual, logical and physical data modeling for large databases


Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's Degree in relevant Business, Information Technology, or Engineering specialty

  • 2+ years of experience in the IT profession with 1+ years of experience in the implementation of an enterprise data warehouse
