Responsibilities

This position will be based in our Downers Grove location.

 

HAVI is seeking a Data Engineer to join the team that brings solutions to Analytics clients through our services and technology. In this role, you will gain exposure to a wide variety of tasks and technology including development, diagnosis, deployment, and operations -- a great opportunity for someone with good understanding data management. You will become an expert in our data domains,  act as a trusted advisor to architects and engineers, and become a crucial part of the deployment and operations of our systems. Additional responsibilities:

 

  • Data modelling and relationship management: Resolve conflicts between models, ensuring that data models are consistent with the ecosystem model (e.g., entity names, relationships and definitions)
  • Create and maintain a domain area’s data catalog: Provide data flow documentation for business systems
  • Interpret data results to business customers
  • Interface with business community and provide ongoing status
  • Develop standards and processes for integration projects and initiatives
  • Ensure all automated processes preserve data by managing the alignment of data availability and integration processes
  • Adhere to data management standards, policies and procedures
  • Expand and grow data platform capabilities to solve new data problems and challenges
  • Perform technology and product research to better define requirements, resolve important issues, and improve the overall capability of the technology stack
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on future technologies and new releases/upgrades
  • Work on multiple projects as a technical team member or lead driving user story analysis and elaboration, design and development of software applications, testing, and builds automation tools
  • Participate in creating strategies that use business intelligence and data platforms
  • Work with team members to design and implement data solutions in alignment with the project schedule
  • Work with developers to make sure that all data solutions are consistent
  • Work with developers to ensure all database changes are according to database design standards and principles 
  • Code, test, and document new or modified data systems to create robust and scalable applications for data analytics
  • Build or implement automation tools
  • Conduct logical and physical database design and capacity planning
  • Construct and implement operational data stores and data marts
  • Implement security and recovery tools and techniques as required
  • Develop, test, implement, and maintain database management applications

 

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, other technical discipline (or equivalent work experience) 

  • 3-5 years of data engineering, data science experience or software engineering
  • Experience with object-oriented or functional design, coding and testing patterns as well as experience in engineering (commercial or open source) software platforms and large-scale data infrastructures. Strong knowledge in multiple programming or scripting languages
  • Significant knowledge of data modeling and understanding of different data structures and their benefits and limitations under various use cases
  • Deployment experience in both cloud/on-prem/container environment
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal communication skills 
  • Experience with agile methodologies, tooling, and team dynamics is a plus
