We are seeking an individual to lead a small team in providing internal technical support as well as maintain the technical infrastructure for an organization of over 100 employees. This person will work closely with IT, Operations, and Security teams in order to support day-to-day operations, ensuring availability of information systems, improve processes, and enable users. You will do well in this position if you enjoy troubleshooting and supporting your peers in their everyday issues.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team that provides hands-on technical support—identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues for local hardware, software, and networking equipment
  • Monitor and prioritize internal support requests received in person and by ticketing system
  • Work with individuals or teams to identify pain-points and devise new and clever solutions to issues
  • Work directly with teams to identify requirements, plan, design, and deploy new software solutions and information systems
  • Provide documentation to team and organization to help assist adoption of new systems or processes
  • Assist in the provisioning of new and replacement equipment
  • Assist management staff with preparation of IT documentation regarding system configurations, technical processes, and budgets
  • Employ industry and security best-practices
  • Maintain inventories for hardware and software solutions
  • Have a diplomatic and professional attitude-- be sensitive to the IT needs of colleagues while regarding other priorities in the job
  • Keep up to date on latest trends in technology and equipment / solutions

 

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of IT experience including leading a team (or acting a sole IT lead)
  • Bachelor’s Degree, required
  • Expertise with macOS and Apple hardware
  • Experience working with Linux/Unix-based operating systems
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting computer networking equipment -- Cisco switches, firewalls, routers, access points, etc.
  • Proficient with databases and user directory services
  • Extraordinary problem solving and critical thinking skills that allow you to work in an efficient manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication

Bonus

  • Knowledge of AWS, cloud-computing, and virtualization
  • Scripting in Bash and/or Python
  • CCENT, CCNA, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, etc. certifications

Location

We became a distributed workforce in March 2020 as a result of Covid-19 and will remain distributed moving forward. Our Chicago HQ still remains but we want our team to have flexibility around when and where they work.
