About the Role
PerkSpot is looking for a full-time, take-charge IT Support Specialist who is ready to take the next step in their career helping support our growing company’s day-to-day operations, with an initial primary emphasis in onboarding.
This is as much a customer service role as it is a technical support one. We have very high standards for supporting our institutional clients and the end users who use our services every day, and provide the same level of engagement and dedication to our internal staff.
This role will report to the IT Support & Operations Manager.
A successful candidate will have:
- General aptitude for quickly solving the problem handed to you and the ability to follow up by investigating and resolving root causes.
- Experience setting up workstations for end users and resolving typical Windows & Office 365 issues.
- Working knowledge of a ticketing system (Jira Service Desk, ServiceNow, Remedy) and a diligent approach to documenting time usage.
- An aptitude for finding ways to help business users make computers and IT systems work for them and help implement IT policies as unobtrusively as possible.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and account problems, and the ability to engage with the user to quickly identify the source and type of their problem when they themselves are unclear.
- Experience providing advanced technical customer services to non-technical end-users, to include both written and oral communications via email, over-the-phone, and face-to-face.
- Knowledge of basic networking concepts.
- Ability to lift and transport equipment in excess of 25lbs, occasionally getting dusty running cable or digging under desks.
An ideal candidate will be:
- Someone with 2+ years experience in tech support
- A results-oriented and dynamic individual with a hands-on mentality
- A self-directed teammate, with a strong sense of owning the solutions for problems brought to them by their colleagues
- Hands-on, practical experience with many of the technologies we use everyday: VMware Workspace ONE UEM/Airwatch (or Meraki/Jamf), (lite) administering O365 users and groups (or on-prem AD users & groups), AzureAD, Clonezilla (or Ghost/Carbon Copy Cloner), VOIP systems, Ubiquiti UniFi, JIRA,
Your First Month
- Meet the team. Culture is huge at PerkSpot and as an IT Support Specialist, you’ll specialize in productively working with all members of all our teams. While you meet the team and learn the basics of the business, gaining an understanding of all the stakeholders, you'll also roll up your sleeves and make a tangible contribution the first week.
- Familiarize yourself with the applications, systems, and tools.
- Set up a Lenovo laptop from out-of-the-box, prepare it for the arrival of a new colleague, and then assist with the tech side of their on-boarding.
Within 3-6 months
- Help in massive infrastructure build-out.
- Begin troubleshooting networking, common Windows and Office 365 issues, and all manner of Operations demands.
- Maintain IT inventory.
- Contribute to the development of an automated user provisioning workflow.
