About the Team:

The Data Transformation team is composed of highly driven subject matter experts who specialize in the creation of customer-facing data insights (high order attributes) via the strategic development and maintenance of Label Insight’s taxonomical product data. The team is made up of a food and non-food subsection which operate closely together to build cohesive solutions for our CPG and retail customers. It is this team’s responsibility to apply thought leadership and industry expertise across regulations and trends, enabling Label Insight to provide cutting-edge insights to our customers. The Data Transformation team's primary focus is the development, organization, and quality analysis of data in order to build new high-order attributes and customer insights. The team has a variety of industry related backgrounds which greatly helps when analyzing nutrients, ingredients or interpreting research and CFR regulations. The team also dedicates approximately 1/3 of its time liaising with both internal stakeholders and customers to better understand their goals and challenges to help shape solution recommendations.

About You:

This position is an entry-level position on the food and beverage subsection of the Data Transformation team, who specializes in food and beverage, infant formula, pet food, alcohol and other consumer products that are intended for consumption. A degree in a scientific or health and wellness field is preferred, such as, Nutrition and Dietetics, Food Science, Public Health or similar. Top candidates will have experience in one of the following industries: Retail Dietetics, Ingredient Formulation, R&D, Labeling Regulations, Brand and/or Category Management or similar careers in one of the relevant industries (food and beverage, pet food, infant formula, alcohol, etc). 

This candidate should have fine attention to detail, be quick to learn new tasks and assimilate relevant information easily. You should be results-oriented and have the ability to manage multiple priorities at once. Above all, this role requires you to have a passion for technology, innovation, and data-driven decisions; be a strong, outgoing communicator, creative problem solver, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a product type expert on various cross-functional teams within the organization
  • Work with future and existing customers to help build out their health and wellness programs that are designed to be consumer facing at shelf edge or e-Commerce
  • Help inform decisions on how the data should be interpreted and presented to users
  • Conduct independent research on current regulations and CPG industry trends in the applicable food product types and translate those learnings into attributes
  • Audit, improve, and develop internal database taxonomies (e.g. marketing claims, ingredients, certifications and logos, nutrients) 
  • Support Customer Success, Product and Sales teams on customer calls and meetings
  • Understand FDA and USDA labeling regulations 
  • Learn simple coding language which is used to write attributes
  • Lead individual quarterly goals and team initiatives
  • Create reports for both customers and internal management

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a scientific or customer facing field field previously mentioned
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to relay complex information clearly
  • Ability to liaise with other industry organizations and experts to promote LI’s position as a key ally within the food industry
  • Proven ability to learn new technology and product capabilities
  • Data analysis experience
