Manager, Fair Lending & Compliance
What will your day look like?
You will work with the Director to develop, enhance, and maintain the fair and responsible banking program. Relevant laws and regulations include, but are not limited to, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act/Regulation B, Servicemember Civil Relief Act (SCRA), Military Lending Act (MLA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Resources to do the job require effective written and verbal communication skills, advanced systems skills, strong relationship skills, and demonstrated ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities

- Develop and enhance Alliant’s fair and responsible banking program which will include fair lending risk, SCRA, ADA, MLA, HMDA, UDAAP, and other laws and regulations within the sphere of fair and responsible banking principles
- Conduct risk assessments to determine the residual risk to Alliant for applicable fair and responsible banking laws and regulations
- Ensure the compliance training plan includes general awareness and role-based fair and responsible banking training as needed
- Evaluate consumer complaint and inquiry data for fair and responsible banking risk
- Coordinate and communicate with federal regulatory agency examiners during examinations and other quarterly reporting requirements
- Perform fair lending sampling to detect potential violations or risks associated with lending practices
- Advise business on remediation activities as needed
- Work with Business Risk to track and implement any corrective action or control enhancements recommended as a result of statistical analyses, comparative file reviews, or reviews
- Preparation of regular status reports and presentations for related committees, Executive Team and Board of Directors
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving bank laws and regulatory expectations affecting HMDA, UDAAP and Fair Lending practices
- Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, company procedures and policies.
- Maintains integrity and ethics in all actions and conversations with or regarding credit union members and their accounts.
- Translates strategic and operating plans into meaningful direction of projects, goals, priorities and activities; delivering on strategy through quality execution and best practice adaptation.
- Captures, analyzes, and understands the internal environment, team dynamics, and talent capabilities to address organizational refinement, agility and growth.
- Champions Employee/Internal Customer Engagement, employee development and all cultural hallmarks through a strong leadership signature and a growing command of Alliant’s leadership competencies.
- Continually assesses and provides discerning development, insightful coaching and talent utilization/optimization for direct reports.
- Applies High Performance Management practices in leading an engaged workforce in order to effectively leverage the full potential and talent of this function.
- Provides a structural and consistent approach to ensure that individual development plans are in place, performance management is consistent, performance management process is respected and followed, and coaching and feedback are provided on a regular and dynamic basis.
Qualifications
What makes you a great fit?
You’ll be a great fit if in addition to the completion of a Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years’ relevant experience in financial regulatory compliance and consumer protection, CRCM or CUCE certification strongly desired, and you have:
- In-depth knowledge of Fair and Responsible Banking and Fair Lending laws, as well as regulations including, but not limited to the analysis of lending data for HMDA and Fair Lending.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Prior experience acting as a change agent in a growing organization.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
