Manager – Incoming Payments & Valuations

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Incoming Payments team is responsible for coding and posting payments received for alternative and traditional assets held in custody by Millennium Trust Company and posting deposits related to individual client contributions, rollovers and transfers. The Valuations team is responsible for facilitating and processing alternative asset valuation updates and monitoring for stale dated valuations. The Manager - Incoming Payments & Valuations is responsible for directing and overseeing these critical functions, supporting supervisors and team members, coordinating and streamlining workflows between teams and other internal departments, and contributing to business development opportunities and strategy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Direct and oversee day-to-day operations and counsel supervisors on escalated issues
- Review and approve high dollar transactions, exceptions, correspondence and other work generated by the team
- Develop, lead and effectively coordinate teams and processes to ensure smooth operations within and between the teams and other MTC departments
- Establish and enforce effective policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls and to maximize accuracy and efficiency
- Address and resolve significant operational issues and develop and communicate solutions to complex issues
- Work on key priorities as established by the SVP, Manager of Asset Operations
- Strategize and make recommendations and decisions that support new business and business strategy
- Evaluate transaction and other departmental metrics to identify trends and effectively communicate results
- Oversee system testing and test plan updates to ensure that new system releases are properly reviewed
- Coordinate annual audits with external auditors
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to maximize departmental efficiency and optimize resources; direct others to implement appropriate changes
- Foster an environment that promotes high performance and cooperation
- Effectively communicate with Manager regarding departmental activities and issues
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 10 + years of applicable experience
- 3 - 5 years of leadership experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of finance and investments, securities movement and processing, IRA and investment-related IRS tax requirements and asset valuations
- Ability to think strategically and deal effectively with abstract and complex matters and long-term issues
- Ability to create appropriate vision for the team
- Superior analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions and anticipate their consequences
- Ability to understand the big picture as well as provide direction on the relevant details
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize and schedule in an efficient and productive manner
- Exceptional management, leadership, change management and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, listening and collaboration skills

- Demonstrated knowledge of book-entry systems and processes related to alternative assets and traditional securities preferred
