Job Summary



Responsible for supporting the development and delivery of the overall communications plan. Also responsible for creating communication plans for key business leaders and their business units as well as serving as a lead Pharmacy & Retail Operations communications partner. Provides expertise in executive, field and store leader communications to support the company’s business strategies, initiatives and programs. Leverages functional knowledge and expertise to proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Develops and delivers on programs that deliver increased efficiency and effectiveness. Interacts regularly with Senior Executives, establishing and maintaining positive relationships as a trusted communications partner. Acts as a key contributor and decision maker in a fast-paced, diverse and complex environment. Responsible for leading and developing a team of communication specialists ensuring delivery on all communications operations and activities.



Job Responsibilities



• Supports the development and delivery of the overall communications plan ensuring all deliverables have been achieved.

• Manages the daily delivery of communications activities ensuring accuracy and effectiveness of messaging, providing feedback and support to leaders and business partners for continuous improvement as needed.

• Develops, manages and delivers communication plans for large scale projects, programs and initiatives.

• Provides coaching, feedback and direction to members of the communications team on execution of assigned tasks and the development and delivery of content.

• Manage and address executive and business partner requests for base business communication support needs.

• Creates communication plans, programs and messaging for Walgreens executive leaders and business units to achieved desired execution of tasks and programs in the field and stores.

• Oversees and maximizes the use of Compass Task and Communication application or similar tactical communications tools and processes.

• Identifies, establishes, creates and maintains key cross-functional business partnerships essential to delivering an effective collaborative communications team.

• Proactively establishes and maintains partnerships with corporate communications unit, executive leaders and key business stakeholders.

• Monitors and leverages existing feedback channels to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and creates strategies to deploy solutions to address.

• Leads and develops a high-performing communications team while ensuring consistent delivery of all communications operations and activities.

• Creates and delivers crisis communications as appropriate.

• Monitors, measures and recommends appropriate internal communications channels to deliver effective messages.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience developing, executing and integrating communications strategies and plans– or - a High School Diploma/GED and at least 4 years of experience. The experience should be in editorial, writing, publications and participating in or managing online communities.
  • Experience project management skills (e.g., prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates, planning, organizing, managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (in state and out of state).
  • At least 1 year experience of direct leadership and/or cross functional team leadership
  • Experience interacting with and influencing executive and senior leaders, operational teams and employees.
  • Experience establishing, building and managing relationships and collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Experience effectively prioritizing and executing on projects in a diverse environment
  • Experience creating and editing communications, both written and verbal with the ability to tailor for various audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism or English with at least two years of experience in editorial, writing, publications, and participating in or managing online communities.
  • Experience working with graphic designers, visualizing and creating concepts for publications.
  • Experience working with online platforms and functionality that may include blogs, intranet forums and multi-media channels.
  • Knowledge of change management and change leadership methodologies.
