Title: Network Engineer - SRE Team

Location: Chicago, IL 

Overview:

We are looking for a Network Engineer on our SRE Team to help us create a robust and redundant network for our AWS assets, 4g kiosk network, and physical office locations. We are also working to expand our VPN coverage and redundancy along with enhancing our network monitoring capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor existing network infrastructure for uptime and throughput and expand monitoring capabilities 

• Respond to network outage events

• Configure and create VPN connections and infrastructure for our nationwide kiosk network

• Work closely with the rest of the SRE team to expand our AWS capabilities

• Complete network related projects and enhancements

• Track work and tasks in working logging system

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting, designing and implementing networking solutions

• Expert understanding of networking principles, such as IP subnetting, routing protocols, redundancy, VLSM, VLANs, packet analysis, etc.

• Experience with securing internal, peripheral, and cloud networks and systems.

• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot issues in complex, distributed ecosystems 

• Build and maintain relationships with vendors and partners for new and proposed technologies.

• Ability to communicate business ideas, networking architecture, and other solutions to all levels (from executive to apprentice)

• Self-motivated with the ability and track-record to reach beyond current roles and technical experience

• In-depth knowledge and experience in system monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, application optimization, systems management and high-availability (HA) architectures 

Experience and expert knowledge of:

• Designing and maintaining software-defined networking for public cloud and hybrid environments.

Advanced knowledge of: 

• Administration of Linux based systems

• Some knowledge/experience with scripting and automation
