Job Description
TITLE: Principal, Model Governance
DUTIES: DFS Corporate Services LLC seeks Principal, Model Governance in Riverwoods, IL to maintain model risk management infrastructure, including model inventory, model performance KRIs, and model risk events. Lead the efforts in standardization, automation, and workflow management. Contribute in enhancing current processes for model validation. Maintain status updates, and facilitate resolution/escalation of issues in a timely fashion. Create periodic analytical and update presentations and reports for senior management, executive management, risk committees, and for regulatory exams. Create and execute project work plans and collaborate with various teams in Finance (Strategy Planning & Treasury), Credit Risk, Marketing, IT, etc. for Credit Card, Consumer Lending, Network and Banking Businesses to execute the objectives of the model governance program. Analyze complex quantitative models and the risks and controls around their usage. Establish model performance thresholds and monitor model performance within acceptable thresholds. Interact with the external regulators and internal auditors to demonstrate the operational soundness and effectiveness of the model governance policy. Interface with business partners in Finance, Treasury, IT, Credit Risk, Marketing for Card, Consumer Lending, Network, and Banking Businesses. Update and maintain model validation procedures and process flows. Help to enforce standard policies and procedures related to tiering of findings, model usage and tracking and process controls associated with the modeling process. Promote a risk-aware culture to ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Analytics, Finance, Economics, or a related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation: utilizing Teradata, Snowflake, SAS, Python, Jira, and Scorecard to perform financial modeling, statistical analysis, and business analysis; utilizing model risk management, SR-11-7, and model inventory management; working with Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) and Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) methodologies, and artificial intelligence and machine learning risk management; and reviewing statistical models. In the alternative, employer will accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in the above listed fields of study and two (2) years of experience in the above-listed areas.
