Program Manager, Technology PMO
The Role
The Program Manager plays a critical role in the successful and streamlined project management on behalf of the Green Thumb Technology team. In this role, the Program Manager is the lynchpin to the completion of a project by developing, monitoring, and managing the plans which include, the scope, schedule, associated task list, resources, risk and budget. The Program Manager is capable of building and maintaining strong working relationship with key stakeholders through prompt, clear communication and accountability. Additionally, this role will define the PMO Office and refine tools, process, and best practices as GTI’s internal systems/process evolves - keeping all parties aligned and on track. They will be responsible for engaging with IT vendors, internal IT team and operations / functional stakeholders to evaluate requirements, validate business cases, prioritize & track projects, ensure conformance to PMO standards, review & communicate project status, etc.
Responsibilities
- Develop the Green Thumb Technology Project Management Office
- Partner with Green Thumb stakeholders on technology projects to develop, implement, communicate standards, best practices, and process to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget to meet the business needs
- Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Clarify a client's system specifications, understand their work practices and the nature of their business
- Ensure resource availability and allocation
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
- Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
- Uphold best practices and maintain standards of project management, planning and execution for any IT and Technology projects by ensuring completion of project intake requests with accurate and timely information to relay onto the Project Owners and key stakeholders
- Direct and oversee a small team (up to 5) Project Managers
- Map current and future state business processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Technology, or related field; or relevant Program/Project Manager certifications
- 8+ years of experience as a Technology Program or Project Manager, experience in rapidly evolving and scaling companies, preferred; national retail experience, a plus
- Must have experience building and overseeing a small to midsize PMO team
- Strong experience of managing retail technology projects
- Experience with retail projects e.g. POS Rollout, RFID/MES, ERP implementation etc.
- Experience in creating and or leading a company project from concept to finish
- Agile Certification is preferred
- Ability to quickly learn and understand the needs of the business and gain extensive knowledge of the department process
- Full understanding of project management phases, techniques and tools
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to think critically
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to influence and confidently interface with all levels of the organization
- Highly motivated, self-directed with proven ability to handle multiple priorities and manage their time and others effectively
- Must be able to operate at both strategical and tactical levels and appreciates that sorting the details is a requirement
- Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and can execute amid changing priorities
