We are seeking an exceptional professional to lead Groupon’s Merchandising Operations. The Senior Manager, Merchandising will impact 50M+ consumers across all touch points, including 1.3B weekly emails and push notifications to drive growth of our North America business.

 

In this position you will optimize getting the right inventory to the right customer with the right message through the right channel at the right time in order to drive total business objective growth across our diverse lines of business - Goods, Getaways, Things To Do, Health & Beauty, Restaurants, Home & Auto, Retail and Coupons. This key merchandising role will drive overall North America asset allocation, calendar management and own Services merchandising campaign execution.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Sr. Manager Vertical Merchandising - Strategy & Planning and other stakeholders in order to develop and implement planning process and create asset allocation strategy, campaigns and promotional activity to deliver P&L objectives

  • Build amazing teams. Focused on the development needs of employees, ensuring collaboration and teamwork. Establish motivating stretch objectives for team members that align with company objectives

  • Partner with Revenue management to build a data driven decision making framework and process that includes clear data based escalation paths when necessary and minimize need for escalations

  • Drive clear, transparent communication to all stakeholders regarding trade-offs, scheduling and optimization opportunities

  • Develop processes and checks and balances to ensure flawless execution of messaging across directly and indirectly managed teams

  • Manage transparent accountability of delivery for directly and indirectly managed teams, leveraging tools such as SLAs, planning schedules and committed dates  

  • Leverage existing product tools to their maximum business impact and partner with product team to define and prioritize requirements in order to further improve output  

  • Ensure high degrees of collaboration between leaders, dotted line and direct: Merchandising - Strategy & Planning, Marketing, Creative Services, Product & Engineering, and Revenue Management

  • Own calendar development and ongoing optimization / management

  • Conduct statistical tests for merchandising optimization in conjunction with Product and Revenue Management

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Marketing or equivalent professional experience

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in E-Commerce, Marketing or Merchandising

  • Demonstrated success establishing clear directions, setting stretch objectives, distributing workload appropriately

  • Clear communicator who lays out work in a well-planned and organized manner, maintains two-way dialogue with others on work and results and brings out the best in people

  • Demonstrated functional and technical knowledge and skills performing at a high level of accomplishment

  • Experience managing the creative process of others with ability to facilitate effective brainstorming and project how potential ideas may play out in the marketplace
