The Role

Edovo’s Network Team designs and operates the network services that deliver Edovo’s secure digital platform to jails and prisons across the United States. This includes backend hosting systems, wide area transport, customer premise installations, end to end security and automation and management solutions.

 

We focus on security, stability, scalability, fault tolerance, and automation. We strive to provide our customers and internal teams with 100% system and service availability.

 

The Senior Network Engineer at Edovo has a unique opportunity to deliver technology in the most challenging of places, the US prison system. You’ll be designing new solutions, and solving interesting problems in environments where modern technology has not gone before with the freedom and ownership to put your skills to the test. General Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the business and engineering to evolve existing network solutions both on metal, and in the cloud.
  • Work with a focused, passionate team to design Edovo’s next generation network architectures.
  • Communicate with prospective clients to design Edovo implementations and design network solutions in challenging environments. (Design, Bill of Materials, Scope of Work, etc.)
  • Participate in customer site deployments (Up to 25% Business Travel)
  • Participate in “on-call” rotation

Projects You'll Work On

  • Scaling new and exciting Layer 3 network infrastructure to serve tens of thousands of devices in the field across dozens of client facilities across the US
  • Design tools to automate the provisioning and maintenance of network devices
  • Building and scaling back end network services
  • Creating systems and solutions for automation of system functions on network hardware and Unix-like systems
  • Network Function Virtualization
  • Service Scalability
  • Site Reliability Engineering
  • Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Business

Qualifications

Must-Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or 4 years’ equivalent experience in an IT or Networking-related field
  • Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA, or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of professional experience with production networks and systems
  • An extreme desire to discover, learn and work with new and innovative infrastructure technology hardware, software and services
  • Tenacity, ownership over projects and professional development, and a proactive, collaborative problem-solving spirit
  • Passion for Edovo’s mission
  • Excitement to learn from and solve challenges with our constituents by working with staff, students, friends & family of the incarcerated

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of networking operations at all layers of the OSI model
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco IOS / IOS XE and Juniper devices
  • 802.11 Wireless solutions including planning (access point placement and heat mapping, deployment, operation and support)
  • Internet and Private WAN Connections – Types, procurement, implementation & troubleshooting.
  • Experience managing and scaling backend network services such as DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, SYSLOG, etc on Unix based environments
  • Experience creating, deploying, maintaining and customizing Network Monitoring Tools

 

Bonus Points For

  • Previous startup experience
  • Experience in criminal justice reform, social justice, adult education, or telecommunications
  • Experience working, volunteering, or personally impacted by the jail/prison system
