Role

Technical writers are key to getting our customers deployed and running quickly. In this role at Cribl, you will be joining a highly technical and collaborative team that is committed to shipping high-quality software and enjoying all the goat GIFs the internet has to offer. We are looking for a seasoned Technical Writer to work directly with Engineering, Product, and Tech Leaders to create in-depth documentation of our products and features. 

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and update technical procedural, reference, and use-case documentation to support our products
  • Collaborate closely with Engineers, Product Managers, Sales Engineers, Tech Leaders, Tech Marketers, Developer Evangelists, and the user community to assure that products’ use-case and instructional documentation is complete and accurate
  • Possess an aptitude for conciseness and the ability to execute quality. Have a demonstrated ability to format inviting, digestible technical documents and organize content succinctly
  • Demonstrated ability to follow a house style guide, edit and self-edit according to it, expand it, and promote a consistent and friendly voice across engineering and across the company
  • Participate in ongoing product and feature planning sessions with Engineering team
  • Nice to have: Interest and ability in contributing directly to UX text and interaction design (you can help build the products you write about)
  • Nice to have: positive and quick copy-editing chops

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience working as a technical writer (management or lead experience a huge plus)
  • Portfolio that demonstrates clear, concise, developer- and user-oriented technical writing
  • Impeccable grammar
  • Be comfortable working in an ambiguous and fast-moving environment
  • Effectively meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and publish via Git-based workflows and static site generators (e.g., Docusaurus) is a big plus
  • Skill in using Google Workspace/G Suite, other standard collaboration tools, and graphics/screenshot annotation tools is a plus
  • Experience working in a startup serving enterprise users and buyers a plus
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure, services, and streaming data a bigger plus
  • Sense of humor a plus (one of our core principles is "Irreverent but Serious")
