What you will be doing:As a Service Line Advisor, you will serve as part of the Lumere Advisory Services Team, where you will pair your subject-matter expertise with evidence to formulate and deliver actionable recommendations for medical device use in health systems. You will be responsible for maintaining a current and comprehensive perspective on Cardiovascular, IR and General Surgerysourcing strategy, device spend and utilization trends, combined with Lumere's clinical expertise to advise health system leadership and physicians on opportunities to reduce unwarranted variation and unnecessary device costs and improve patient outcomes.The successful candidate will have extensive experience serving in a healthcare setting with knowledge of healthcare operations and deep expertise in Cardiovascular, IR and General Surgerydevice use, strategic sourcing strategy and the US vendor landscape, share a passion for learning and understanding medical device technology, and be excited to use evidence-based solutions to transform healthcare. Additionally, a successful candidate will be a collaborative, energetic problem solver with a successful track record of leading medical device utilization and cost-reduction projects, with a focus on driving both business impact and stakeholder satisfaction.Responsibilities include:
- Be the go-to expert in health system Cardiovascular, IR and General Surgerydevice sourcing strategy (examples include Surgical Staplers and Litigation Clip Appliers, Vessel Sealers and Soft Tissue Cutting and Coagulation Devices, and Surgical Meshes); apply medical device industry expertise to proactively build a knowledge base of market trends, best practice product selection and utilization, vendor landscape, and reimbursement
- Educate and update internal stakeholders (leadership and relevant business unit) on latest device trends (spend and utilization), healthcare sourcing strategy
- Maintain up to date knowledge of research, evidence and device trends in relevant service lines and perspective on recommended sourcing strategies
- Lead the build and maintain a scalable and relevant approach to presenting device/service line content to educate clients on evidence, device comparisons, strategy recommendations and align approach internally.
- Manage multiple concurrent client engagements focused on using evidence-based strategies to significantly reduce cost and unwarranted variation in physician preference item (PPI) use
- Derive insights from clinical and financial data to inform value-based device spend decisions
- Understand client current state strategic sourcing processes and recommend best practices
- Use expertise to engage with supply chain and clinician clients in informed discussions (e.g., scope of work, content deliveries, gathering feedback)
- Combine quantitative analysis and clinical evidence to tailor and present actionable strategies for health system leadership (e.g., CMOs, senior physicians, service line leaders) to reduce costs and improve outcomes
- Stay current on Lumere's latest clinical evidence reviews and recommendations
- Support Lumere's broader product development and research prioritization by providing thought leadership and communicating feedback from clients
- As needed, serve as a liaison to Lumere's sales and marketing teams to represent our clients' needs and the value Lumere delivers
- Advanced degree in business or healthcare administration, supply chain or clinical-related field (or equivalent work- or education-related experience)
- Minimum of five to seven years of direct experience in a healthcare setting, medical device manufacturer, or healthcare consultancy with deep focus in Cardiovascular, IR and General Surgerydevices (examples include Surgical Staplers and Litigation Clip Appliers, Vessel Sealers and Soft Tissue Cutting and Coagulation Devices, and Surgical Meshes)
- Understanding of device sourcing strategies and vendor/device utilization and standardization initiatives
- Obsessed about impact -- ability to quickly identify underlying drivers of problems, develop hypotheses, and execute on a path to solve
- Experience and ability to effectively influence and communicate complicated ideas and present to senior leaders in health system, especially physician and other clinical leadership, with minimal guidance
- Strong customer service focus; ability to demonstrate good judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent project management skills, including attention to detail, ability to independently prioritize work, and ability to collaborate across multiple teams while managing multiple projects
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, adapts quickly and successfully manages ambiguity
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel to client sites as necessary (approximately 40% travel when safe to do so)
