Description
This position works with the Hydraulic Mining Shovel, Electric Rope Shovel and Mining Technology Enabled Solutions product teams to develop machine electronic and technology systems involving shovel products. The role requires coordination with machine systems engineers, software engineers and electronics sub-system engineers to define and document electrical/electronic system requirements, determine machine electronic system architecture and ensure each of the electronic sub-systems works together.
Job Duties
Work with the prime product group teams to develop short- and long-range strategic plans for Caterpillar Electronics for the product lines.
Manage the Lifetime R&D Estimates for Electronics New Product Introduction (NPI) programs
Ensure program schedules are adhered to by Cat Electronics.
Responsible for resolution of electrical/electronic issues uncovered during the NPI program.
Responsible for maintaining Electronics support for current production programs: batch update release plans, Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), and Change Request Management (CRM) for hardware and software updates.
Basic Qualifications
Candidate must have a BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering
10 or more years of experience in the development of complex electronic control systems.
Detailed knowledge of electrical/electronic systems on Caterpillar machines
Experience with FMEA processes and a basic knowledge of electronic system failure modes
Understanding of electro/hydraulic systems and other major machine subsystems.
Ability to read and utilize a schematic to troubleshoot basic machine wiring issues.
