Summary

The Solution Architect is responsible for the design, architecture, and implementation of technology solutions to support the enterprise infrastructure of an organization.  They ensure that all systems are working at optimal levels and support the development of new technologies and system requirements.

The Solution Architect will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities  

• Analyze existing systems to ensure they offer adequate security and are effectively meeting the needs of the organization. Coordinate with all areas of the organization to see that the system is working as optimally as it should. Analyze business requirements to identify where they can integrate new hardware, operating systems, or connectivity solutions and document solution designs, including logical and physical designs, for enterprise solutions gathered from inputs by architects, engineers, and operators.
• Serve as the primary point person for the technical solution design and delivery of infrastructure platform solutions.
• Recommend alternative technologies or improvements to enhance information systems to support organizational goals and present clearly and understandably to senior management.
• Lead the design and review processes for new systems.
• Develop and document the proposed technical design for the integration and implementation of any new hardware, working across the IT department.
• Create detailed plans for the integration of new architecture into existing infrastructure.
• Provide technical direction and support to delivery resources.
• Identify best practices and lessons learned.
• Provide feedback to senior leadership and incorporate this information into future integration plans.

Requirements

Infrastructure

• 10+ years of experience as a Solution Architect
• Must have experience with technology transformation projects
• Working knowledge of current infrastructure components (i.e. cloud, server, network, storage, virtualization, etc.)
• Strong technical understanding of migration of applications and servers to new technologies and environments
• Experience in developing network infrastructure solutions
• Proficient in ITIL strategy and procedures
• Experience with building enterprise architecture roadmaps and designing complex infrastructure solutions
• Experience with Microsoft technologies (i.e. Server, Active Directory, Azure) and Citrix technologies
• Knowledge of Cisco products
• The familiarity of virtualization technologies including Hyper-V and VMWare required

General / Other

• Bachelors’ degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

• Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience planning and developing support processes and adhering to best practices
• Ability to provide technical system solutions, determine overall design direction and provide hardware recommendations for complex technical issues
