Job Description
At Discover, be part of a culture where diversity, teamwork and collaboration reign. Join a company that is just as employee-focused as it is on its customers and is consistently awarded for both. We’re all about people, and our employees are why Discover is a great place to work. Be the reason we help millions of consumers build a brighter financial future and achieve yours along the way with a rewarding career.
Looking to join a technology team that has a relentless commitment to supporting diversity, driving enthusiasm and motivating employees to achieve their career aspirations? We hope this career opportunity establishes that connection for you. For 14 years, Discover has been recognized as a premier place to work for information technology professionals. If this opportunity is not a direct connection for you, but might be a fit for someone else, share with a friend or colleague as your good deed for the day.
In our Business Technology Payment Services department, we are hiring a Senior Manager to play a critical role within our journey towards Operational Excellence. As leader of the newly created Digital Governance, Enablement & Tooling team, you will focus your team on driving visibility into the performance and availability of Digital Payments’ most critical customer facing systems and services. You will be asked to push the status quo and drive capacity and performance management concerns to resolution in a strategic manner.
Working alongside other leaders in the department, your team will have a charter to consolidate sources of information, which will enable rapidly accelerating business and technology decision making. Your team will perform system capacity and performance analysis and participate in a wide range of discussions focused on building, and strengthening our consumer device driven digital wallet resiliency and capabilities. Think Apple Pay, Apple Cash, Google Wallet, Samsung Pay, etc. You will have the opportunity to work in an innovative, highly visible, and diverse environment, working together with the technology leadership team and our business partners to rapidly respond to challenges in the Digital Payments consumer ecosystem and industry.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of how to manage a team, drive cross functional focus groups to develop, implement, and iterate upon business-facing dashboards along with having experience in infrastructure performance management and capacity planning. If you’re looking for an opportunity to help deliver strategic, sustainable, highly visible solutions quickly, then this may be the role for you!
Given the team’s role in interfacing with many areas of the organization, the successful candidate leader must foster good working relationships with business and IT peers to ensure the team meets its objectives. All members of the leadership team should possess good organization skills with the ability to exercise discretion when escalating and be adept at creatively solving issues independently.
Sounds like a perfect fit, doesn’t it? We think so. Ultimately you need to make this a reality by applying. You will be exposed to the latest technologies in the industry while helping us create the next generation of payment solutions (mobile payments, remote commerce, IoT payments, etc.), all cutting edge, and you have the opportunity to be right in the middle of it. Are you motivated by leading your work versus following a checklist, enjoy advocating for and driving change as well as inventing features or projects that solve a business challenge? Join our team!
