he Groupon Corporate IT Network team is in charge of the design, implementation, and operational support/lifecycle of networking technologies that span our global footprint of offices.  We strive to continuously improve our infrastructure and encourage our team to try different approaches and to bring ideas that will help us evolve and optimize our technologies either through commercial vendor products or open source offerings. As a Sr. Network Engineer, you’ll play an integral role in architecting, building, operating, and evaluating existing designs in the areas of Wide Area and Local Area Networking, Corporate Office Stack Designs - Large, Medium and Small, Warehouse, Corporate Data Centers, Wireless infrastructures and large scale IPSEC VPN Mesh designs while simplifying operations through the introduction of automation while focusing on providing best practices.

-Connectivity designs and documentation of new, closing, adds or changes of global office integrations and regional associated datacenter.
-Data center designs and revisiting of current designs throughout our footprint.
-Lead and initiate discussions amongst the team and across other IT departments.
-Continuous evaluations of products with evaluation of operational impact.
-Create or Improve operational or integration processes of builds
-Create metrics and KPI’s
-Background on implementing automation in a large enterprise network environment.

-Assist with the administration and maturing of alerting environment

-Assist and enhance enhance security practices.
-Optimize configurations where applicable.
-Solid project management skills utilizing resources across regions
-Excellent communicator and participation in leading incident management.
-Mentor Junior staff and build a social community for continuous learning
-Be adaptive and resilient; flex with change and evolve to make things better.
-Travel may be required at times.

Technical Skills and Experience
-Industry certifications at the expert level, CCIE, JNCIE or experience in a large enterprise global environments with 7+ years of  progressive enhancement or learning.
-Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or Applied Sciences Degree  (AAS) with experience.
-Demonstrated ability in building highly-available network technology stacks across various environments
-Proficient in networking fundamentals and the ability to break down and analyze traffic down to the packet level.
-Configuration management in a large network environment  
-Experience and implementing of automation tools in a network environment.
-Strong understanding of L2/L3 protocols with practical application
-Network and Switching technology across Cisco portfolio or mixed environments.
-Experiencing designing services oriented data centers or cloud solutions
-Deep knowledge and configuration of converge network optimization techniques with QoS
-Proficiency and support knowledge of VMWare virtualization environments or others
-Interconnection designs and application with Tier 1 environments with BGP protocol providing fast WAN recovery.
-Data center operations improvement contributor
-Remote access designs with layered security concepts and application.
-Back-end reporting tools for deep inspection.
-Layer 7 Firewalls and splunk optimization
-Application of agile methodologies in a network environment 
-Experience will large distributed and centralized wireless environments
-Background on Cloud connectivity and Cloud security practices
