Rally Health is all about putting health in the hands of the individual. It’s our mission, and it drives everything we do, which is to empower people with easy-to-use online and mobile tools that help them take charge of their health and health care, from improving their diet and fitness to selecting health benefits, and choosing the right doctor at the right price for their needs.

Our culture is built on a deep and sincere dedication to helping people live healthier lives. To do this, we are committed to innovating continuously at every level. We know that some of the things we do are not going to work, and that’s okay. We’re not trying to build something that is churn and burn. We’re building something that supports people over their lifetime. As Rally Health founder and CEO Grant Verstandig says, “We get to do amazing work every day that directly impacts the lives of millions of people for the better.”

Are you an experienced Network Engineer who loves to keep networks reliable and secure? Do you relish the idea of being able to craft what a rapidly growing company's networks look like, how their offices connect, and how they continue to grow? Are you the kind of person who believes that networking and security go well together in a modern organization? Do you believe the job's not done until it's documented? If so, we'd love to talk to you!

You will be a good fit here if you are very strong in building, crafting, and supporting all things connected our infrastructure. You will work to make network operations secure and efficient by monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting network hardware components, and responding to network connectivity issues. Like anyone supporting infrastructure that is required for other people to do their work, being careful and detail oriented is important. We are building a team that is dedicated to fixing problems and keeping the rest of the company unblocked.

Today our infrastructure follows the network design methodologies of the past albeit with omnipresent connectivity to the cloud. We are strongly interested in someone passionate about growing their skills to build upon the practices of DevOps to bring automation to our organization. This includes philosophies around Infrastructure as Code, model-based provisioning, and self-service.

Responsibilities

  • Care for our multi-vendor wired and wireless LANs and WANs spanning multiple offices and virtual data centers in AWS, including VPNs between all of those things.
  • Operate scalable networks and solutions.
  • Maintain and optimize our physical networking infrastructure.
  • Design and implement network security solutions at physical locations and AWS.
  • Test, review, and implement new network security systems to continue to improve and scale the Rally network environment.
  • Develop partnerships with IT, Security, Engineering, and Operations teams to implement new infrastructure technologies to support the ongoing growth of Rally geographical footprint.
  • Hands-on work with our office networks. This is an in-office position that requires periodic travel to our other offices to support them. Occasional work-from-home totally ok.
  • Periodic after-hours work when making potentially breaking changes to the networks.
  • You will participate in our on-call rotation.

Qualifications

  • You should have technical experience in the network engineering field, supporting failover, high availability, and the various routing protocols.
  • You should bring advanced knowledge of some networking components such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless. Some experience with Palo Alto Networks is quite preferred; Cisco and Meraki experience a plus.
  • You are a good communicator who can articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively in all forms. You should be comfortable across a variety of mediums, informal and formal. We work across offices in the US and sometimes at time offsets from each other, so written communications are important.
  • You work better together, not alone. While we all have our own work to do, we're in this as a team. Our networking team is small but works inside the security group.
  • A strong plus if you have experience with network security, packet and flow analysis tools.
  • Having experience with AWS is a plus. Experience with the design and security of VPCs within AWS is even better.

Education/Certifications

  • Technical network certifications are interesting but not required. Palo Alto certificates are more interesting than others because of how much of our network relies on them.

Why join Rally? On top of an innovative work atmosphere and a chance to help people change their lives, we offer competitive pay, daily catered lunches, and an extensive benefits package for all full-time employees (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)). In addition, offer the ability to grow, while truly making an impact in the healthcare system.
