We are currently seeking a full time Sr. Storage Engineer who has experience with multi-vendor enterprise and midrange storage arrays.  This position will be part of a team that is responsible for configuration and support of SAN and NAS storage infrastructures for internal and external customers.  This position is focused primarily on Dell EMC and NetApp storage and Brocade SAN switches and related technologies and will cover all other Open Systems Storage related projects and emerging technologies as required.  Experience in automation of storage operations is a plus.
 

Qualifications:

  • Five or more years as a senior level storage engineer.
  • Must have excellent client interfacing and communication skills.
  • 5+ years’ experience in architecting, documenting, supporting and troubleshooting:
    • Dell EMC and NetApp arrays.  Others a plus.
    • Cisco and Brocade SAN fabrics.
  • NetApp OnCommand Insight management platform a plus.
  • EMC, NetApp, ITIL, PMP, and Security Certifications a plus.
  • BS Degree or higher.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Execution of storage operation changes.  Own highly complex assignments; provide oversight and review of moderate to low complexity changes.
  • Execute the roll out of complex upgrades to storage infrastructure.
  • Create/validate storage DR test documentation and participate in DR test execution.
  • Plans/Coordinates upgrades for storage infrastructure.
  • Vets training opportunities for the storage team.
  • Participates in establishments of storage infrastructure product guidelines, policies & audit procedures
  • Understand external events that may impact applications or systems (networking, operations, etc.)
  • Owns incident resolution and management for storage in major inicidents/outages/P1 events.
  • Engage with architects and vendors to understand emerging storage technology solutions being vetted for our clients.
  • Provide a technical conduit from architecture, design and build for smooth implementation and transition to steady state.
  • Defines and clearly documents standards and best practices for managing supported managed SAN Fabric and Storage Arrays
  • Provide KT and mentorship to cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement throughout the team through review and testing.
  • Interaction with other support departments to provide resilient computing environments for internal and external customers.
  • Position will also require on-call duties that include 24x7 phone response for critical incidents (P-1 and P-2).

 

Skills & Experience

 

  • SAN switch technology including Brocade and Cisco brand switches.
  • NAS technology and networking on which they depend.
  • Replication technologies, remote and local

 

  • Candidates must have excellent customer service skills which will be utilized while interacting with customers, internal support departments and storage team members.
  • Proficient skills in MS Office Suite such as Word, Excel, project, PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of storage metrics, storage trend analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to analyze performance statistics to aid in troubleshooting as well as capacity planning.
  • Creation of standard operational procedures.
  • Understanding of data migration methodologies and replication tools.
  • Understanding of Storage Resource Management Tools – specifically Netapp OnCommand Insight (OCI)
  • Ability to prepare and present executive and client level technical and business level presentations.
