In this role: The SVP of Claims will be an experienced claims operations leader who will shape the future of claims experience for a Clearcover customer. Often, the moment of truth for an insurance customer is when they file a claim. Insurance claims are on the brink of transformation to a touchless experience.  The development of our claims automation efforts is critical in realizing significant efficiency gains while delivering an excellent customer experience.

This role, reporting to the Chief Insurance Officer will be accountable for the supervision of all claims related matters as well as the analysis, development and execution of claims strategies to deliver world class loss cost management and net promoter score in support of overall business objectives. Expectations include the development and implementation of best practices and programs to ensure our business builds on its best in class status.

What are your responsibilities? 

  • Complete a thorough review of existing claims strategy in the first hundred days to ascertain effectiveness and reform as needed. 
  • Build a claims culture which achieves high standards of efficiency and productivity with a technology first mindset.
  • Continuously develop and refine value propositions and differentiated positioning.
  • Set, drive and execute an ambitious claims innovation roadmap. 
  • Motivate the team to stay curious and current on industry trends and the competitive landscape. Collaborate cross functionally to ensure knowledge sharing on market trends, legal changes and loss developments.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, federal and state regulations related to claims while minimizing risk exposure to the organization. 
  • Offer meaningful strategic and financial perspective necessary for corporate decisions and planning. 
  • Work within the claims leadership team, and cross functionally on cost containment strategies including allocated and unallocated expenses.
  • Directly manage complex and large first and third party claims, as necessary.
  • Provide regular updates to investors and reinsurers, as necessary.
  • Be a steward of our Leadership Principles to ensure the claims team lives by them every day.
  • Serve as a credible, knowledgeable and trusted resource to the senior leadership team.

What do you need?  

  • Executive management experience at rapid growth companies, with Property and Casualty experience required.
  • Exposure to and successful track record in the realm of claims innovation required.
  • Experience with data-driven management in rapidly growing companies/startups (or parts of a larger organization) is strongly preferred.
  • A deep understanding of claims workforce management, claims business continuity, and catastrophe management operations.  
  • A willingness to examine every opportunity from first principles and challenge long-held assumptions about insurance and claims lifecycle.
