System Administrator
Green Thumb is a high-growth company in a new industry looking to grow its internal IT department. As a green field project this is an incredibly exciting opportunity to help design the systems that you have always wanted to be a part of. The System Administrator will be responsible to deploy, support, and backup server and storage infrastructure across the enterprise ensuring reliability and resiliency. As a System Administrator you are a problem solver and genuinely like helping team members work through issues with their computer systems, software, hardware, etc.
We are specifically seeking a candidate with extensive server management experience (100+ preferred), supporting an employee population of 1000+, multiple retail locations, POS, and managing large data sets.
Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and monitor GT’s local and cloud systems and infrastructure
- Design and deploy systems that scale for manufacturing and retail locations
- Manage large storage array’s containing mission critical data
- Manage backups and perform regular disaster recovery testing
- Create infrastructure documentation and keep it up to date on our team wiki
- Automate system administration tasks
- Administer and support SaaS applications
- Work closely with department members to design, build, test, and deploy our systems
- Manage your own IT projects from start to completion and take full ownership
- Come up with creative solutions for challenging problems
- Some travel required
What we are looking for
- 7+ years’ experience in System Administration or 5+ years in combination with Bachelors degree in technical field
- Experience working with point of sale systems in retail, hospitality, or restaurant industry highly preferred
- Good communication & troubleshooting skills
- Solid network administration skills
- Experience with monitor and alerting systems
- A strong understanding of Active Directory and identity management systems
- Strong PowerShell abilities
- The ability to work flexible, independently as well as in a team
- The desire to grow yourself, your team and the company
- Must be comfortable working around cannabis products
- Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness
- Adapts and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment
- Possesses a high level of critical thinking
- Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information
- Must understand and comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Green Thumb
- Have a solid understanding of the Cannabis laws, rules and regulations and passion to further their understanding and knowledge of the industry and the laws.
- This role is not remote. Must be able to commute to our office in downtown Chicago.
