Jellyvision’s headquarters is in Chicago, and, post-COVID, many of us will be returning to the Chicago offices (by choice, not requirement -- our philosophy is “Flexible First”). But this position is also eligible for work by a remote employee out of CA, FL, GA, IL, KY, MA, MI, MN, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, TX, UT, WA, or WI.

How you’ll help
As Jellyvision grows, we need people to manage and continuously improve the process for building and maintaining software releases and infrastructure changes. The Technical Release Manager will own application and infrastructure release processes from start to finish, including coordinating with engineering teams, managing risk to production environments, communicating deploy statuses, and facilitating resolutions when issues arise during deployments.
What you’ll do
- Work closely with development teams, SREs, QA/SDET and Product to ensure the stability and quality of deliverables to the production environment
- Develop and communicate detailed release plans and schedules
- Confirm completion of pre-release requirements and work closely with cross-functional teams to account for dependencies.
- Manage the internal application certification process known as Gold Star
- Work with the Product team to manage the release versions, stories, component changes and bug tracking in JIRA
- Research and understand risk and impact to a given set of changes to a production environment
- Identify, establish and collect data during and after deploys for continuous improvement
- Facilitate change management meetings and initiatives to discuss release scope
- Develop tools and integrate new technology to streamline (and automate) the release process
Experience & skills you’ll need
- Solid understanding of the release process and the software development lifecycle
- Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD)
- Experience working with Agile teams
- Release management experience or related software experience in project management, product management, DevOps, or engineering
- Detail oriented, comfortable asking critical questions and the ability to take complex sets of information and translate it into action
- Experience managing competing priorities across multiple teams and initiatives
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with teams that have different communication styles
- Experience managing and leading cross-functional groups
- Experience with Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, etc.), GitLab, Terraform, and code scanning tools
- AWS experience is preferred
