Summary

The Technical Solutions Architect with a Network focus will analyze, diagram, diagnose, design, and troubleshoot complex network environments with a focus on network security. A Technical Solutions Architect has deep experience with critical/core network equipment and the ability to monitor system performance with a focus on scaling operations to meet organizational growth. The Technical Solutions Architect will use this knowledge toward client engagement, mentoring staff, and in a pre-sales engineering role, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and lead the design / implementation of a robust, secure and scalable network as it relates to network operations
  • Provide sales team and project support to assess and design network components as a means of pursuing sales opportunities and supporting project team planning and growth
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of network solutions and trends as they apply to SDI’s business plan, especially as it relates to network engineering’s relationship to cybersecurity
  • Document and diagram existing network environment(s), schematically depicting communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols. This may include creating new diagrams or updating existing diagrams. Where necessary, provide guidance support and for rearchitecting network configurations based on industry best practice approaches
  • Perform or lead a team providing day to day administration and operational functions of the network environment (depending project assignment)
  • Responsible for day-to-day level 2 and level 3 problem troubleshooting and resolution of the networking environment (properly escalating problems when need arises)
  • Provide network assistance to staff when required
  • Assist other team members in executing various project tasks
  • Ensure new software/products are implemented in accordance with client requirements and/or industry best practices
  • Configure, test, implement, and troubleshoot data network systems to support all aspects of the daily operations (depending on project assignment)

Requirements

  • Applicant should have a 4-year degree (or equivalent technical certifications) and at least 10 years of network related experience
  • Certified CCNP (Routing & Switching and Data Center preferred)
  • Extensive hands on experience in a 5,000+ user environment with core switch experience, WAN experience, Enterprise workstations, Servers, Active Directory, and Group Policy Objects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with network architecture and protocols
  • Experience with network cybersecurity processes, procedures, and frameworks (e.g., NIST)
  • Customer contact experience with demonstrated ability to provide superior support to external customers
  • Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously

Experience with:

    • Multi-vendor Internetworking technologies (routers, switches, firewalls)
    • Network and architecture protocols (including but not limited to TCP/IP, EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, BGP)
    • LAN/WAN technologies
    • Network Traffic Analysis Tools (Gigamon, Apcon, Anue, Ixia)
    • Network Access Control
    • Intrusion Detection/Prevention
    • VPN technologies
    • Network monitoring technologies
    • Network security technologies

Additional Requirements Desired

  • Experience working for a top tier consulting firm
  • Public sector consulting experience
