Kin Insurance exists to change home insurance from what it is to what it should be. We do this by applying data science and analytics to make decisions, automation to reduce redundancies and unnecessary costs, and innovative thinking to change the way customers interact with and get value from their home insurance provider. Currently four years old, Kin began with the notion that technology could improve our industry, so we started by researching the most important part of our business: the customer. After building our platform from the ground up, we launched the Kin Interninsurance Network, a customer-owned carrier in Florida. By applying our vision for a data-driven, technology-forward insurance company, we are able to offer customers affordable insurance in a straightforward, simplified approach. In 2020, Kin is continuing to grow in Florida while expanding into other states.

So, what’s the role?

As Kin grows within new and existing markets, our focus on the customer journey continues to be a top priority. Reporting to our COO, the VP of Operations will work cross-functionally to build scalable processes across our sales, customer support, and retention teams. With a focus on throughput, this person will lead initiatives to improve the efficiency and quality of the customer experience. As both a people and culture leader, they will also own the development of new and existing teams within the Ops organization.

A day in the life could include:

  • Leading sales, customer service, and retention teams with direct oversight of frontline managers
  • Collaborating with Product, Insurance, Marketing and Software teams on Ops initiatives and programs
  • Expanding existing teams and establishing new ones
  • Creating and implementing new processes, and working cross-functionally to automate processes when possible
  • Making data-driven decisions and developing KPIs for new and existing initiatives and programs
  • Coaching and mentoring teams
  • Updating training program, performance management, incentive plans and more

I’ve got skills...but do I have the necessary ones?

  • 8+ years of management experience in B2C or B2B sales/service environments
  • Experience having built and scaled teams
  • Cross-functional experience working with product and software development teams
  • Regulated industry experience preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency with data management and reporting tools (ex. SQL, Looker, etc)
  • Experience leading customer retention programs

Location

Located in the historic Merchandise Mart Plaza, Kin's office is located directly off the Brown and Purple line stops, overlooking the Chicago River.
