Windows Operations Manager

To do this, we rely on a server infrastructure that’s critical to the business. As our Windows Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the administration and support of the Enterprise virtual server infrastructure for the corporate campus in Chicago and field locations around the country. You will define, maintain, communicate, and implement team standards consistent with established architecture and strategy.
This position provides leadership, administration, and support for all of TransUnion’s revenue-generating systems and services. Within this role, you will be tasked with leading a team of Windows operations engineers who will report directly to you. Your guidance and leadership will be critical in both setting and maintaining high standards of conduct and precision while also motivating each individual perform at the highest levels. As such, you and your team will proactively ensure stable, dependable application/systems across the virtualized environment. You will also participate within our cloud strategy, new technologies being investigated, and you will have a direct impact on future enhancements impacting the environment.
You will ensure the high availability of the virtualized infrastructure by collaborating with various teams such as application, network, database, and storage. You will work with development teams to ensure the operational readiness and supportability of pending changes. You will maintain and utilize various monitoring tools to identify faults and ensure their timely resolution to avert any stability issues.
Summary Description:
• The Windows Manager provides technical guidance and support to engineers charged with project delivery and other system administration responsibilities as required by the business
• The Windows Manager understands overall departmental and business unit goals and how existing programs/products/processes are designed to support these goals
• Provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems, balancing technical viability with business requirements and constraints
• The Windows Manager requires very limited supervision: No instructions needed on routine work, and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments
• Guides the successful completion of major initiatives that impact cross-functional teams within their department
• Provides technical leadership for systems on cross-functional incident resolution teams.
• While performing at a leadership capacity, the Windows Manager provides management and oversight of a team of direct reports
Qualifications
• Proven ability to lead engineers who administer and maintain an enterprise-wide windows infrastructure
• Broad knowledge of Systems technologies and industry trends with subject matter specialization in Windows systems administration or advanced knowledge of specific practices
• Extensive experience with Windows
• Administer Microsoft SCCM to support software deployments and monthly patching operations.
• Experience in a large windows environments with 24x7 support requirements
• Experience with automation and innovation using scripts or 3rd party tools.
• 3+ years of strong Windows Server implementation, troubleshooting and support (2008, 2012, and 2016).
• 2+ years of PowerShell/PowerCLI scripting and automation.
• 1+ years of VMware administration
• Microsoft Clustering and SQL Server
• SCCM Administration and software packaging experience.
