Summary

The Windows Systems Engineer will be responsible for the management, operation, maintenance and support of the highly available Cisco network infrastructure components, Windows and Linux servers, and storage devices as directed by the designated Program Manager. This Engineer will respond to server, storage and network alarms and outages, dispatch to remote sites for troubleshooting and repairs as well as document network infrastructure, update and close trouble tickets and document root cause of server, storage and network issues.  This Systems Engineer will report to the Project Manager and team lead and will work closely with other members of the technology department to support all technology at our client’s sites.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day to day administration and operational functions of the data center server environment
  • Design, set up, configure and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers and other peripheral components to support all aspects of the day to day operations
  • Design, set up, configure and troubleshoot Cisco network switches and other network components to support all aspects of the day to day operations
  • Perform day to day administration and operational functions of the network environment
  • Day to day monitoring of the server and network environment, collecting and preparing statistical data for analysis on server and network performance and availability
  • Documentation of Procedures / Networking and server environments (ensure that all network and server documentation is accurate and up to date)
  • Document issue resolution using the helpdesk ticketing system
  • Management of the IOS images and ensuring patches are tested and applied
  • Submit Request for Change forms when needed. Participate in Change Advisory Board meetings
  • Configure and troubleshoot video cameras and recording devices
  • Configure and troubleshoot wireless network equipment
  • Install and configure software
  • Maintain excellent communication with all end-users and other members of the technology department
  • Assist other team members in executing various project tasks
  • Work with hardware break/fix vendor as needed
  • Execute other assigned tasks as delegated by the Customer, Project Manager, and Team Lead

Requirements

  • Ten or more years of experience working within both physical (Windows/Linux) and virtual (VMware/Hyper-V) servers
  • Windows Engineer experience in the cloud specific to 365
  • Advanced vendor certifications and in-depth knowledge of at least one or more network operating system (LAN or WAN) and email system
  • At least one advanced certification on network connectivity devices. Example certifications are: Microsoft MCSR, MCTS, Cisco CCNP, Cisco CCSP, Citrix CCIA, CompTIA Linux + (or similar), VMWare VCP, Apple Certified System Administrator (ACSA, Security certification(s) through RSA
  • Experience working within RedHat Linux 
  • Must be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must have excellent customer service, written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Drivers license required
