Job Summary & Responsibilities
Payroll Specialist
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for payroll processing and HR system maintenance at the employee level in a multi-state environment. Also responsible for all activities leading up to transmitting the payroll file and tasks related to the reconciliation of payroll entries.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Processes bi-weekly payroll for all employees in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensures compliance with FLSA and other regulations that govern payroll practice.
- Reconciles payroll discrepancies and resolves any issues that may arise promptly.
- Maintains accurate payroll records, including employee time sheets and attendance.
- Assist with payroll audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors.
- Works collaboratively with the HR department to ensure accurate employee data management.
- Responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters and resolve concerns effectively.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and laws.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in a full-cycle payroll capacity
- MS Excel Skills (V-lookups, Pivot Tables, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in payroll for a large organization
- Multi-state experience
- Knowledge and understanding of payroll taxes
Educational Requirements
- University (Degree) Preferred
Work Experience
- 2+ Years Required; 3+ Years Preferred
