Caterpillar Inc. seeks Principal Product Manager at its facility located at 540 West Madison, Chicago, IL 60661.
Manage Product of large IT Program(~$100m) to enhance and upgrade legacy system including incorporating Machine learning and Analytics of Telematics data to generate exceptions (Fault codes) and access the CAT's large constructions, O&G (Oil and Gas) and Marine equipment's and assets health and provide recommendations. End-to-end oversight of CAT foresight application. Partner with CAT foresight business stakeholder and application engineering teams. Work with Product council to prepare the product roadmap. Collaborate with a wide range of people to identify and define business needs, understand the Solution Context, and develop the Program Vision, Roadmap, and Features required to meet these needs. Work with users across different functions such as Data Analyst, MLAD (Machine Learning and Anomaly detection) team and geography to gather requirements. Work with 8+ front end application-UI and 10+ platform Backend teams spread across multiple Geo to design the solution. Conduct and drive requirement gathering sessions to identify various system/processes and requirements. Convert business requirements into IT requirements. Create and manage the application product backlog for CAT foresight. Ensure ADO backlogs feature requirements are enriched with all required details. Drive several scaled agile sessions such as Scrum of Scrum, Defect Triage etc. Maximize the value of products and the work of the Development Team. Create, maintain and prioritize the Product Backlog for engineering teams. Communicate Product Backlog priorities to the team. Convey the vision of what is to be built to the team. Assist with the elaboration of epics, themes and features into user stories that are small enough, or granular enough, to be achieved in a single sprint. Convey the vision and goals at the beginning of every sprint. Work closely with key stakeholders throughout the organization.
REQS: This position requires a bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Project Management, Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 8 years of experience as a product manager or related occupation, or in the software development industry.
Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Software development management processes including Agile methodology to lead daily team standups and prioritize requirements backlog; (2) Website design and architecture including fundamentals of HTTP messaging, OAuth security principals, RESTFul API design and user experience design; (3) Project Management tools including Azure DevOps, Excel, PowerPoint and PowerBI; and (4) Security software development practices including JWST, OAuth, SAML and access tokens, and software development practices related to security such as OWASP, basic penetration testing and web security including HTTPS protocol. Telecommuting: up to 4 days/week. Travel: 10% domestic travel to customer sites & organizational meetings.
